Icena is a great place to stop in the north east corner of Tassie. Accommodation is limited if you don’t want to camp & Icena is quality accommodation that really fills the gap. The communal industrial kitchen has every piece of cooking equipment you could require plus a huge coffee machine to delight the coffee enthusiast & the separate dining/lounge room is excellent. Nothing is missing & it encourages friendly interaction with other guests. Heating, cooling & electric blankets in the bedroom were great & the view of the cows out the bathroom window a picture.

Our family of 4 stayed two nights at the cottage. The first thing that struck us was the beautiful view, with the balcony bathing in the beautiful sunset and a clear view of the fantastic beach below. The cottage was spacious, clean and comfortable. It was well-furnished with quality cabinetry and cooking facilities. The living room was very homely, with large comfortable sofa, dining table and cosy lighting. It was truly a great holiday home to unwind in, and I could imagine staying here to destress and meditate. Another big plus was its proximity to the beach where we had great time jumping from one red rock to another.

Ansons Bay is a sleepy little fishing village with no facilities, so you need to bring your own provisions (or go to the nearest township). We wanted a quiet few days, just hiking and sticking to ourselves, so it was perfect. Very tranquil and beautiful and quiet - just what we were looking for. Nearby St Helens was the perfect place to stock up before we arrived, so we had everything we needed - and the house is very well set up.
