Ballarat is a lovely town with such history and wonderful architecture, the buildings are great. Over two and a half days we enjoyed our George Hotel accommodation, in Lydiard St, close to the Theatres, Cafes and Restaurants. It was in close proximity to the Wildlife Park, Tram Museum and ride, Lake Wendouree and the Botanical Gardens. We enjoyed a trip to the Creswick Woollen Museum. There are many other places to visit.

Ballarat is very different from Adelaide, countryside is very relaxing and pretty. I liked the heritage buildings in the city, there are multiple schools, seems like a busy area but not a over crowded place. There are new estate areas to build your home at a reasonable price. Daylsford is a very nice place, there's lots to see and do in Ballarat.

Loved the trees and plants around the house, it was very warm and cosy, kitchen facilities were great and house was spacious. We very much enjoyed our stay. Just needs a little bit more lighting for reading, but overall it was a wonderful place to get away.

Oscars Hotel and Bar is in a very good position for...

Oscars Hotel and Bar is in a very good position for accessing shops, restaurants, the art gallery, movie theatre and Lésspresso cafe which has THE BEST COFFEE in Ballarat. The rooms are very comfortable and have everything one needs for a stay. Although busy with the restaurant the accommodation area is very well protected from any noise from the downstairs eating areas. All Oscars staff I encountered (wait staff, management, room service staff) are very experienced, friendly and professional. Oscars restaurant was VERY popular over the three day weekend I was there and I can understand why (staff, position, comfort, accessible and welcoming for all age groups. Their wine list, whilst not extensive, had some good choices and I enjoyed both eating experiences over what was a drizzly, cold weekend. Parking was easily accessible down a side lane behind the building, and access with baggage easy from that area through to reception- staff will help with taking luggage upstairs to rooms - no lifts in keeping with any older style stone building that has been upgraded in keeping with comfort and style expected. I would recommend Oscars to anyone who would like to park the car and explore the CBD, or have the car easily accessible to scope out the many offerings in and around Ballarat.

So much to see and do for all types of travellers of all...

So much to see and do for all types of travellers of all ages - from the recreated gold mining town of Sovereign Hill, the stately Kryal Castle, the Wildlife Park and/or Ballarat Bird World to visiting the Ballarat Tramway Museum (with a ride on a heritage tram), a walk around Lake Wendouree (with so much bird life to see), strolling the magnificent Woowookarung Dementia Friendly Forest & Sensory Trail or taking in the magnificent view from Mt Buninyong, spend time in the beautiful Botanical Gardens or even take a casual art class - there is something for everyone! A wonderful choice of accommodation for all types of travellers in various price ranges, wonderful places to eat and choice shopping experience. You’ll need to stay more than one night though!

Perfectly situated right in the middle of Ballarat. Two well set up rooms, both with nice en-suite. Upstairs kitchen/living room was well appointed and lovely furniture. Was too hot to go outside on upper balcony and we had to keep the blinds down during the day. But it was really hot (for Ballarat!) Garage couldn’t take my work van but would fit normal compact or SUV fine. Pretty much faultless, and great value for money for two work colleagues when compared to a hotel.

The townhouse was beautifully appointed, comfortable, quiet location with secure off street parking. It was easy access to many Ballarat attractions and very convenient for our needs travelling as a couple with a single friend. Much better value for money than hotels/motels with full kitchen facilities for self catering. Lovely outdoor area with BBQ as well as plenty of seating for the three of us in the lounge and dining area, a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

The heritage charm of the venue makes it something special. The reception desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The food for both dinner and breakfast was very well presented although the menu and drinks selection was rather limited. Location in central Ballarat enabled us to easily walk and enjoy the historic buildings. The secure car park was appreciated. A beautiful old hotel.
