We travel to Canberra annualy to host a dinner for xpat South Aussies. We love to visit, favourite to do's are the Portrait Gallery and AWM. I hosted this years dinner at the Lanterne Rooms. Faboulous food, very obliging staff and a great winelist. Other previous good experiences include the fabulous D'Browes Restuarant in Narrabundah, the East Hotel and the Commonwealth Club, a home away from home. Our Nation's Capital, what is not to like or need to see! Well laid out City. Many attractions including New and Old Parliament House, good spot to ride bikes, indulge gastronomically, see politicians up close. Great short stay destination for families. We went to visit Floriade primarily but explored so much more. The War Memorial is a must. There are lots of lovely cafes and restaurants. We drove around the Embassy District which was interesting, checked out the old parliament house as well as the new. So much to see and do. We came many years ago when the children were smaller. They are now adults and busy with their own work and activities. Coming here again at our later age brought great memories, but we are satisfied. Many places are still to explore in Canberra as we age.
