The town has one of the most beautiful views in Queensland...

The town has one of the most beautiful views in Queensland and is a perfect place to stop for a night or two (or more) if you are travelling north or south. Has a lovely art gallery displaying art by some very talented local artists, and other items hand-made locally; a friendly and welcoming library and a fascinating museum. Cardwell was one of the earliest European settlements on the NQ coast. Beachcombers restaurant gave us an excellent evening meal one night and Terry and Mamiko's does yummy burgers, fish and chips etc. There are swimming holes and walks in the hinterland behind the town and if you drive a couple of km north and turn right into the National Park you can drive through to a beautiful wild and ofen deserted beach. But please don't swim - this is croc country.

Cardwell is made for adventure lovers. You can do bushwalks like Attie Creek Falls, hike the Dalrymple Gap track, swim in the Cardwell Spa pool and at Five Mile Creek.Talk to the staff at the visitors centre as they are really helpful and you can see the museum at the same time.Murray Falls was well worth a drive north and you can also do a 1.8km walk to a lookout at the top of the falls.Don't forget the Hinchinbrook Channel Lookout at the start of the Cardwell Forest Drive.

Having travelled through Cardwell a number of times between Cairns and Townsville, it was great to stop for a few nights on either end of a car trip between the two once more. The restaurant at Beachcombers was lovely. Totally recommend the kangaroo entree. Went for walks in the morning along the Esplanade and up further to the river. Was able to get an easy 8km in. Close to walks and the Cardwell spas which I hadn't stopped at despite living here three years. Highly recommend a good few days to explore Cardwell and surrounds.

There is nothing to do unless you have a boat and want to go fishing, beware the crocs. There are plenty of nature activities, like visiting close by falls and creeks. A very beautiful area either side of Cardwell. Limited shops and places to eat.

Noisy, Not Luxury and NOT value for money at $185

Noisy, Not Luxury and NOT value for money at $185 This is not a unit it is a bedroom attached to the restaurant with an adjoining door (privacy issues) which open very early. The walls are not soundproof so we were woken by music and showers at 5:45.AM. The room was very hot as the air conditioner was inadequate. There was NO hairdryer, bottled water, soap and the shampoo & conditioner were family size (unhygienic) The continental breakfast was corn flakes, canned fruit and sliced bread again with family sized vegemite, honey etc. After our very early morning wake up we were handing out for a cappuccino but no coffee machine given this was a restaurant very unexpected, decaf was Nescafe instant. Definitely not good value at $185, we likened this accommodation to a $99 motel !! The location of the self-contained units was good but the location of the room was terrible, no view and very noisy

Beautiful small town with a great foreshore area and amazing views to Hinchinbrook island. Make sure that you go to the lookouts. The highway runs through the town but the positive side of this is that there are more eating out options.

The unit was clean and well appointed. It has a " Friendly Grocer" over the road. It's a shame there prices aren't friendly . The xxxx pub down the end of town offers good value for money. Cardwell as a destination is a very relaxing 😎 alternative to either Cairns or Townsville

Holiday park was located close to Cardwell and was perfect for what we needed - just a place to stay for the night. Kitchenette was handy to warm up dinner and make tea and coffee.

right on the water in the sleepy town of Cardwell. the staff were super friendly and the room was exactly what we needed for a quick stop over on the way to Hinchinbrook Island.

Well fitted out small rooms, spotless, quiet location at the back of the pub, a toaster would rate it a ten. Good value meals in the Marine Hotel.

A lovely hotel in a quiet location opposite the waterfront of Cardwell. Room was a good size as was the bathroom.
