Clean, cosy, yet felt spacious. Tucked away not too far from town. We only stayed one night but could have stayed a lot longer! The host was easy to communicate with and they were thoughtful :)

The location was great, up on the hill was beautiful! (Beautiful sunrise pictured from right outside our door) It was really cool staying inside the hillside like that. Also loved the maps she provided with some suggestions. My mom and I loved the big public noodling area as shown on her map, we had not known about that before we visited!

If you're reading this you have probably heard about Coober...

If you're reading this you have probably heard about Coober Pedy already in which case it really is as different to the norm as you might imagine. It's a long drive there and back from just about anywhere but the mainroad north toward Alice Springs and south towards Adelaide is straight and fairly empty so it's easy driving.

Awesome place to explore.

Awesome place to explore. The old timers mine was very interesting. The Big Rig 360 was great for a meal and sunset drink. The underground motel is a must do experience. If it's not in your budget they will let you have a look around the building and have a cuppa, if the cafe is open.

A different world. Amazing scenery.

A different world. Amazing scenery. Breakaways must be seen. Go night noodling ,(hire special infra red lights). Only drive in still in use in South Australia. Great restaurants. Johns Pizza. Best pizza ever, also catered for gluten free. Eat inside or out. Always busy but worth dining in or take away. 360 Winch. Great meals. Perfect steaks. Souvenirs to the side. Pleasant to eat inside or out on the lawn area.

Only stayed overnight as travelling through.

Only stayed overnight as travelling through. But did visit Umoona museum and mine tour and that was amazing and great value for money. Local IGA was well stocked, good variety. Outback Bar and Grill great food, but some portion sizes for some meals are questionable (pork ribs and salt and pepper squid).

I love visiting Coober Pedy for a day, or perhaps two.

I love visiting Coober Pedy for a day, or perhaps two. It's a great place to drive into from either direction - fantastic landscapes - and it's the right place to buy opals or opal jewellery. It also has a really good range of accomodation and eateries for such a small town.

Coober Pedy is unique, once in a lifetime experience.

Coober Pedy is unique, once in a lifetime experience. Look past the dust and machinery and look under ground and meet the fascinating people. Opal is so beautiful and a perfect keepsake. It is worth paying money for the tours as you learn so much about the history and the people.

You drive into Coober Pedy for the first time ever and think oh gosh where am I 😂 Then you’re met by Gary to check in and realise this place is super cool and unique! We also met Pete the new owner and just cannot rate the staff and their knowledge enough! Our underground family room was clean and cosy beds were comfy and located super close to everything in the small town. It is a little old and tired but that was part of the charm was absolutely perfect and secure. Thanks Pete can’t wait to see what you do with this place!

We stayed at Ali's underground studio on our way through Coober Pedy, and it exceeded our expectations. Not only was the communication before and during our stay wonderful, but the studio itself was amazing. It gave us a fantastic experience of staying underground whilst having all the comforts of home. Ali's studio is clean, private, and has everything you need and more. If we come back to Coober Pedy in our travels, we will definitely stay at Ali's Underground Studio again.

We loved this property! We loved that it was underground so we got the real Coober Pedy experience and the fit out of this property was so beautiful. It was modern, clean, so comfortable and had every amenity that you would want. The owner was lovely and so helpful. She gave us some great tips on what to do whilst we were in Coober Pedy and kindly offered to book us a table for dinner at the Big Winch cafe. We would highly recommend this property.

Definitely get the feel for Coober Pedy by staying in this semi underground unit. Well presented and comfortable, we had everything we needed for our stay, IGA is located at the end of the street for easy access. We have stayed in this unit previously and were happy to stay again on this trip.
