    Lovely town in NSW Riverina.

Lovely town in NSW Riverina. Lots of history to explore and some very special things like the Authentic Deco decor Diner, the Marble work, the bridges across the Murrumbidgee to name few. Lots to do see and explore in a very pleasant area with a great climate Highly recommended.

We only stayed overnight travelling through, just a short drive from Hume Highway & close to pubs & restaurants. The room had everything we needed & the owner made sure parking was available for us outside our room.

Gundagai is a lovely town, very lush and pretty with beautiful old buildings which are so representative of early settler style and design. Some of those buildings aren’t occupied now which is a shame but it’s fabulous they are still standing for all to enjoy. The old homes are gorgeous as is the hilly setting, charming. Very friendly staff and top service in restaurants and shops. Thank you. Lou, Kew VIC

The town of Gundagai is full of history.

The town of Gundagai is full of history. You really need a few more days to discover everything. The RSL club has meals but unfortunately not open for dinner Mon-Wed. A few pubs to eat at that are very nice. Freindly people & staff at most shops we visited although not a lot open on Turesdays

It is interesting to visit Gundagai for a short visit. I was mainly interested in having a stopover on my way to Bendigo. The local coffee shop is expensive. The Services club staff are great but the food offering is not as good as previously. Beware the breathalyser in the morning at the Northern exit!

Gundagai is an attractive little town - absolutely gorgeous in autumn - with good cafes and pubs (love Niagara Cafe's authentic retro vibe, delish food and friendly staff). The bakery is always worth a visit. The town has plenty of history, lovely old buildings including some really great art deco buildings, and statues. We recommend reading about the devastating flood of 1852 on the panels near the beautiful bronze statues of heroic rescuers Yarri and Jacky Jacky in the main street. Gundagai has an interesting landscape of riverland and hills. We had a fascinating time in the Australian Pen Museum; so many curios and so much more than pens - of which there was an amazing range. The old school room at the back brought back memories of primary school days. Bruce told us many incredible things about this remarkable collection. And of course there is the famous 'dog on the tuckerbox' just a few km north. While the new Gundagai tourist info centre is still to be completed, once that happens, it's well worth seeing the truly remarkable marble sculpture housed there - it took 28 years to complete this astonishing and beautiful work. A temporary tourist info office is operating in the library building and the staff there are friendly and helpful. We had a good feed at the Criterion Hotel; it can be a very 'lively' venue (if you want conversation, perhaps try to find a table in a quiet corner!). Did I mention that the children's playground in the main street is probably one of the best in Australia? The variety of equipment there is fantastic. Gundagai: in our view, it's always worth stopping there to break a journey with a short visit or a longer stay. A great little town.

I couldn't believe what a gem of a place to stay the receptionist had everything ready and within two minutes of arriving we were in our room; they are extremely clean very comfortable, and we were both blown away by this beautiful Motel. we recently stayed in Graceland's Guest House in Memphis and paid over $300 US a night, and this was booking in Gundagai was a lot more value for money. and the friendliness of the staff was excellent, very close to everything hotel's restaurants all walking distance

First stay I paid cash in hand & my dog was allowed to stay (pet friendly hotel) Second time refused my dog as I did not give them cash & booked online. Demanded more money & I refused. Was given the “run around”. They refunded my money thank goodness Rude staff - difficult - don’t speak very good English- money hungry thieves!!!!!!!!! Would not recommend them to anyone

We didn't actually stay at the Gundagai Motel as it was not what we expected. So we moved on to Yass.
