We spent two nights in this beautiful property - the history just adds to the charm. The views of the harbour and Mt. Wellington in the distance are just the perfect sights to wake up to. The staff is exceptional. A special mention of Tim and Monica who made sure our tour bookings were the best options that worked for us and answered any and all questions we had about beautiful Hobart. The rooms themselves are well-appointed, quirky, comfortable, and just easy to relax in. We needed to keep our bags at the property after checkout for many hours as we had tours planned and the hotel did not hesitate to accommodate us.

FAQs about hotels in Hobart

Historic City Comes of Age

Historic Hobart, with its convict past, was often referred to as Australia’s neglected backwater. How times have changed as its temperate climate, quiet lifestyle and fabulous food and markets make it a revitalising tourist destination along the Derwent River in Tasmania.

The city’s significant maritime history begins at Constitution Dock, situated along the waterfront and facing the beautiful harbour. Nearby Battery Point and affluent Sandy Bay feature Georgian and Victorian architecture and the first settler’s cottages in Australia’s 2nd oldest city.

Escape to a memorable view of Hobart town from the snow-covered Mount Wellington or get close up and personal in the city’s quaint streets. Hobart comes alive during the colourful Salamanca Market, held every Saturday morning, where you can bag a bargain or sample mouth-watering produce such as local wines and cheeses.

Cascade Brewery and Cadbury’s Chocolates have tours of these Tasmanian icons or visit Wrest Point Casino, a popular event and entertainment centre.

The annual Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in December and Tulip Festival in the Royal Botanical Gardens swells the population in this small capital city. Make sure you check Booking.com ahead of time for your colonial cottage, cosy B&B or waterfront apartment.

A lot of Harbart is in serious need of capital expenditure.

A lot of Harbart is in serious need of capital expenditure. Many roads are in a poor state. How about drinking water, waste water, storm water? I cannot believe how the Tasmanian public, and Prime Minister Albanese are pushing for a new sports stadium at > $1billion, when the essentials are begging for attention.

Hobart is a wonderful city, featuring pristine beaches on its shorelines, native forest environment on nearby hills and Mount Wellington with its spectacular 360-degree views. The ferry trip on the Derwent River to MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) were highlights. The picturesque one-hour drive to the Tasman Peninsula to walk among the historical convict ruins of Port Arthur and view the seaside townships was well worth the trip!

Beautiful part of the World…..So much to see.. Hobart is a base to engage any thing you want to do or see. Go for a walk from Cascade Brewery to Hobart to find the platypuses on the rivulet. It’s not even advertised to do…..Soul enchanting. Sneak off to Bruny Island and have an adventure you will never forget . Mars Bluff, Shucked oysters, White Wallabies, 12 degrees ocean water. Captain Cook didn’t go for a swim here.

There were four of us and we hired a Kia Carnival which had plenty of space and comfort. We were in Hobart for 4 nights at the beginning of our holiday and 1 night at the end. We visited Mona, Port Arthur, Bruny Island (where we enjoyed a jet boat ride) and also went to the Salamanca Markets. Our favourite restaurant in Hobart was Landscape Restaurant as the food was unbelievable and there was a good wine selection. The staff were great too.

Our honeymoon trip to Hobart was amazing.

Our honeymoon trip to Hobart was amazing. The weather is unpredictable but you wait it out and it changes quickly! So many food choices and too many spots we wanted to stop at but ran out of time. Has a great night scene compared to our small town, but not too crazy like the big cities on the mainland. Felt safe the entire time, everyone is friendly. Although we had a car, the CBD is very walkable and can spend days just there - then outside the city is great too!

Hobart is spread out and there is plenty to do. Having a car is essential and the weather plays a big part in getting around. The number of varying restaurants is a bit of an eye opener and they all seem busy at night time.

The hotel is well located near Hobart main attractions. The staff was ready to help, keen on giving advice on where to go and what to do. For example, for finding ways to get to the airport, they gave me a lot of suggestions with different budgets so I can choose the best. Moreover, around the hotel are very nice areas for food and leisure.
