Situated in the hinterland mountains of the Sunshine Coast, this area has great appeal. Good restaurants, boutique shops, and wonderful scenic walks, or for the less active, plenty of scenic drives. Whether swimming under waterfalls, or enjoying excellent food this area is an excellent choice.

Hiking in the area is always fantastic.

Hiking in the area is always fantastic. The shops are quaint and quirky if that's your thing (not really mine) but for me it's the region's nature that keeps me coming back. To that end, there are pretty limited mid-range accommodation options that aren't in the townships. Some areas have more of that sort of thing nestled right among the mountains and forests, whereas in this area that kind of accommodation is harder to find and more expensive - though if you're willing to head down the range to the Eudlo area (it's only a 20 minute drive) you can do well staying there and taking day trips up the mountains.

Mapleton is a small country town on the top of a ridgeline...

Mapleton is a small country town on the top of a ridgeline with that side having views over Mount Coolum and Marcoola to the ocean in the distance. There are numerous hikes/walks in the area including access to the Sunshine Coast Great Walk. If you visit I would highly recommend having a lunch at the Mapleton Hotel, it was an absolute surprise, the food and service was sensational. The more touristy town of Montville is a short drive away. The town also has several coffee shops, an IGA and service station.

Mapleton is magical in what it has to offer for a peaceful & refreshing getaway. It offers beautiful walking trails, spectacular coastal & hinterland views, modern amenities with restaurants, cafes & local activities. A welcoming location.

Mapleton is a quiet area close to natural beauty.

Mapleton is a quiet area close to natural beauty. Not too far to travel for a light meal. Fish and chips great, meals at Mapleton Tavern. Coastal and country views. Good location for a base. Not too far to drive to Flaxton, Montville and onto Maleny.

Mapleton is one of a string of small villages along the...

Mapleton is one of a string of small villages along the Blackall Range ridge with access to lots of rainforest walks, long and short, lakes, cafes, shops, galleries and restaurants. The Mapleton Tavern had good food and was open on a Monday night when many other venues were closed. Mapleton is much smaller and quieter than its neighbours Maleny and Montville and a nice alternative with less passing tourist traffic.

Location was just near the entrance to Mapleton Falls. The outlook from the apartment we had (slept 2) was gorgeous. The apartment itself was lovely. Not luxurious but had so many thoughtful touches and extremely clean.. it was perfect for a mini stay. Aircon, super comfortable bed, huge bathroom, kitchen with supplies and fresh food and large screen tv. The gardens are beautiful too. Renee the host was incredibly welcoming and helpful and had all the tips for the local area. A lovely property!

Very comfortable and roomy accommodation. Loved the sauna, dual private outdoor baths, and pool. Nicely decorated and generous sweet treats provided. Super friendly host. Close to picturesque Mapleton Falls and short drive to Montville Village specialty shops, art galleries, and restaurants.

I liked that there was a welcome package (bottle of wine) plus the fridge had milk and water and the bathroom has shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Really liked Thick bathroom towels instead of those horrible hotel ones.
