The cabin was very nice but you will need to bring prepared food as the brochures provided in the cabin, for local fooderies were very outdated. The bedding was clean but worn out . Great washing machine. Lovely bathroom. Kettle, toaster and microwave provided. The view was gorgeous with the current autumnal colours of the trees around the very pretty house in front. A wee bit of a vacuum to the two comfy chairs on the verandah would be great. Maybe a cover to keep them clean. Guests would appreciate that.

National Park is a small community on the way to Gordon Dam.

National Park is a small community on the way to Gordon Dam. Fika Time Cafe at Maydena was a little further along the highway but had the best freshest tastiest food of the area. Gordon Dam was spectacular but a long ride from anyway.

Mount Field National Park is a Tasmanian treasure.

Mount Field National Park is a Tasmanian treasure. We have visited a number of times to go walking/ hiking. The Visitor Centre is excellent. We have twice walked the Tarn Shelf circuit (5-6 hour return) It is tough but excellent. There are many other delightful shorter walks.

Amazing views and great waterfalls.

Amazing views and great waterfalls. Good to be in the rainy or drizzly day as the falls are much more intense and sounds great. Good to go with the little kids. I took my 2 year old for a walk only 30 minutes loop. We took the stroller till the russell falls but left the stroller on the first steps towards Horse shoe falls. Both the falls and the walk is amazing. We couldnt do the other walking loops as they were longer and I had tired kid after this walk.

Our visit to the Mount Field National Park where we saw the Russell Falls was great. We called in to the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife building and the staff were very friendly and helpful with advice. On the downside, there are no real places to have a meal in National Park. We did a 10 minute drive to Maydena for an evening meal which was great.

National Park has many opportunities to disconnect and recharge. Many walks to explore both short and longer for those needing more challenge. At this time of year, (late autumn/early winter) bring your funghi I.D booklet, they are varied prolific and stunning! Come prepared for all weather, even when the prediction is fine.
