What a delightful stay we had at Ulverstone River Retreat. It is a little slice of Tasmanian Heaven. I could have sat all day looking at the beautiful River Leven rising and falling with the tide. We stayed in the Loft Apartment and it was perfect for our needs.... so cosy and comfortable. The other rooms looked gorgeous too from what I saw. Kids loved the wildlife on the lawn in front. Don't miss the Leven Canyon walk and for those wanting something a bit off the beaten track try the Castra Circuit. Kim and Anthony were such friendly and approachable hosts.

We loved everything . Perfect location for exploring the area including cradle mountain, little penguin and platypus spotting and tons more. Fab little town . Everything in walking distance . Nice brewery 6 mins stroll . The apartment sites by the river and is perfect . Well equipped, modern , comfortable, peaceful , immaculate, excellent outside space and lovely responsive host . Far exceeded our expectations and would def recommend . We have used self catering for over 30 years and this one is def one of our favourites. Sue u are a great host thanks .

Gorgeous property in an amazing setting. Well laid out, lots of facilities including super comfy beds/linens, lovely lounge and outside furniture. Could just while away hours listening to birdsong and lapping sea on the beach. Loved the trains passing.

Central location in Penguin with parking right outside the door. The best thing is you can walk everywhere in town. The accommodation was pretty good and we quickly made ourselves at home here. The beach is across the road so not hard to see the sites.

Being a group of 9 people, its 4 rooms fit us perfectly, and we can use the common area as our dining place. Since each room has its own kitchenette and bathroom, each group can make the food at the same time. Anna, the host, is very responsive to our requests and made an extra effort to get us a nespresso coffee machine and boxes of coffee capsules.

This property was just perfect.

This property was just perfect. Great sized bathroom with a relaxing bath, good bed, all the little home like touches were very welcomed and enjoyed. The river was beautiful to look at and changed daily. The gardens were gorgeous. We will definitely come back another time.

Pedro's Seafood restaurant is a must visit, crayfish excellent. Very friendly shop owners/staff. Oliver's Bakery, full of delicious treats. Their black forest cake at $25 a great buy, (would be $70 in Melbourne) delicious fruit buns. Comm Bank staff, council staff, Levin newsagent, excellent to do business with. No parking meters.

At the Hive we found Gladys and Kirsten who were extremely generous with their help, and we realized we should have planned to spend more time in their area and less in the city (where we did get lost a lot!!). The woodwork and the craft studios were opened and we enjoyed the experience. The landscape in this area is magnificent, and we found two beaches where Kimba was allowed to run free and where I could collect shells and stones. Sheffield and Railton were high on our return trip to catch the Spirit of Tasmania. The Northwest coast of Tasmania is GREAT.

We had a unit that had a ramp as I am depended on a walker...

We had a unit that had a ramp as I am depended on a walker and wheelchair to get around. The only thing that I found wrong was the shower, it had a big step up into and out of the shower, something I found very hard to do. Had to get the disabled shower unit key so as to shower. Other than that, the unit was great.

Ulverstone is an absolute gem.

Ulverstone is an absolute gem. It is a lovely town straddling the beautiful Leven River, with a friendly, village feel. It is also a very convenient base for exploring the hinterland towns and attractions. We will be back.

Easy to get around with plenty of choices of places to eat.

Easy to get around with plenty of choices of places to eat. A good mixture of shops to look at and some lovely walks around the area. Great park area for kids to enjoy and we loved seeing the bridge lights. A great place to stay for the Devonport Soccer Cup.

Great bathroom , excellent location, lovely views of the river , easy 5 min walk to coles woolworths and Riverview arms hotel great meal there, the apartment was very clean , loved the way you could open the door all the way and go out on the deck would recommend these are perfect with plenty of room
