I have been coming just about every year for 30 years to the jazz festival in the first week of November. It's always a great break in an area renowned for food and wine. Also many neighbouring towns are also great to explore eg in the last few years I've been to Beechworth (be sure to take the prison tour and the lunatic asylum tour) Glenrowan (site of Ned Kelly's last stand) and this year to Wodonga right up to the southern banks of the Murray River with walking paths featuring indigenous art and culture. In Wangaratta I enjoyed riverside dining at both Rinaldos and the RSL (Sydney Hotel).

What a lovely surprise Wangaratta was, a super town filled with great shops, sadly I didn’t get to shop as they were closed when I arrived on Saturday (they close at 1pm-ridiculous in this day & age) but they looked good and it would have been nice to visit some of the shops there (they were also closed on Sunday). However there are great cafes there and a variety of takeaway, particularly pizza shops but I highly recommend Luca Pizza & Pasta. Fabulous pizzas and great service. Nice selection & good wines.

Partner is coeliac so he required gluten free food. Luca Restaurant served really tasty pizza. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was at Koffie Bean Cafe. The food (gluten free and regular) was great as well as my soy flat white and his hot chocolate. Very relaxed atmosphere, enjoyable.

Stayed at Wangaratta motor inn, staff friendly , rooms clean and comfortable beds. Friday night we had Indian from next door Mr Kurry. The food was delicious. Saturday night we had dinner at the RSL. Food was delicious and the beer was cold. Great weekend in Wangaratta for a baseball tournament that my son played in.

Great location to base yourself.

Great location to base yourself. Easy travel to Beechworth, Milawa (Brown Brothers Winery). Some great restaurants and cafés, some lovely old buildings and churches. We had a fantastic meal at Rinaldo’s and we enjoyed excellent coffee at Pauli's Cafe.

Check-In process easy - details of key location/photo & key code were messaged to me. Plenty of coffee/tea & biscuits Provision of shower gel, shampoo/conditioner in small tubes Super clean/crisp white sheets & fresh smelling pillows Location very central and safe to walk around. A Hotel with Bistro meals and Aldi supermarkeyt across the road. My best discovery - the Wok-Inn, next to Aldi. Delicious noodles & Asian food (best Fried Rice ever imo) at a very reasonable price!

Great location next door to a Dan Murphys and Woolworths which made stocking up on supplies easy. The room was a little basic compared to other hotels we stayed in in Victoria. The room needed a little dusting round the lamps and bedside tables. Towels were fluffy, white and clean. Very quiet. Easy parking over the road. A short drive to the Local RSL Club for delicious reasonably priced food and drinks.
