Yack is a beautiful old goldrush-era village, nestled in a picturesque valley between forested ranges. The air is clean and crisp, the locals are very friendly, and the coffee is great! Many different walks and bike rides through the bush or along the creek, ideal for bird and animal watching. An ideal location for a weekend getaway.

Lovely small, historic town.

Lovely small, historic town. Nice to wander around the few shops. Lots of nice cafes. Museum in old bank cottage was worth a look. Autumn is a beautiful time around the area with all the colourful autumn leaves. Also plenty of stunning Alpine drives in the area.

If you want a recommendation on what can only be described as a 5 star-plus accomodation in the beautiful Yackandandah township, look no further than Miette. It is a stunning very modern home with all the home comforts anyone could possibly want. We specifically wanted accomodation close to town as we were attending the Yackandandah Folk Music Festival, and combining the festival with some mountain bike riding. Jane our host went out of her way to make our stay comfortable, and gave us an early checkin to avoid road closures. The house is absolutely lovely, and we really appreciated the warm and inviting atmosphere that Miette created. The place is so charming and cozy, and was a real pleasure to stay. Thanks again Jane for being such a wonderful host.

Yackandandah is set in beautiful countryside, and is very atmospheric with quaint businesses and buildings. Most of the businesses shut at 4pm and due to the Christmas holidays, some did not appear to open at all. Not a lot of choice for dinners - 2 pubs and a Thai restaurant which is apparently shutting shortly. We did a few after dinner walks which were very pleasant in the summer evenings, and we found the location fairly central to lots of places of interest, most notably Beechworth, but also Rutherglen, Bright etc.

I think this may be my favourite Victorian country town.

I think this may be my favourite Victorian country town. The people are friendly, the streets are clean and full of historic gold rush buildings. I love that there is a canopy of oak trees protecting you from the hot summer sun almost everywhere you walk. Quiet, picturesque and restful. A great place to visit.
