Gare 55 is a converted railway station. The conversion is exceptional, with fine attention to detail and highest quality fittings used throughout. We were impressed and commented to each other about a number of the smart design choices. Although the room is quite small (due to constraints of fitting into the existing station building), the space has been used in the most efficient way possible. Clearly the main market is for single business travellers looking for a self-contained flat for stays of a week or longer, but it works very well for a couple. Bed was very comfortable and room lacked nothing. There is a large shared kitchen area with indoor and outdoor seating. This provided a nice place to sit in the evening as well as the possibility of preparing one's own meals. The hosts were warm and welcoming. Location is great for day trips to Gent (10 Km from the nearest P+R with tram access to city centre).

The hosts, Marc and Katty, were very easy to communicate with for our travels. Very warm welcome and greetings when we arrived. Gave us a tour of the house and showed us where everything was located. Asked if we had questions about anything and if everything was ok for us. Showed us their amazing garden and where we could lounge outside in the very private and cozy outdoor space. Just absolutely amazing people and amazing place to stay. There is a fridge full of drinks. Both soft drinks and good Belgium beer. Even a bottle of wine. Marc explained the different beers to us. Had a very nice sleep in a very clean and comfortable bed. Just very well kept. Beautiful!!! Marc did all the building himself and was very passionate about his work. Very impressive Craftsmanship. I can't tell you one bad thing about this place. Will be back again to visit. The delicious breakfast. Fresh!!! Homemade bread, homemade yogurt, homemade granola, fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee. Fruits, cheese , meat's. Farm fresh eggs from their chicken. our recent weekend stay at anno 1673 was a most delightful treat in the countryside of ertvelde... isabel & mario have built a beautiful B&B that is modern in its facilities and function with a tasteful nod to architectural design and history...the surrounding open farmland and the peacefulness makes for a very relaxing atmosphere to sit & enjoy an evening glass of wine or morning koffie... our room had everything we needed, very comfortable & spacious, and the few requests we made, were given promptly & much to our satisfaction... including dinner recommendations for il posto giusto ... so good, we ate there twice! and then, there was breakfast... fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh breads with meats, cheeses and fresh strawberries with fresh-whipped cream on top embellished with shavings of white chocolate...sinful & delicious which made for a perfect start to a great day... we enjoyed getting to know mario & isabel during our stay, and look forward to visiting again...
