The hosts were brilliant and welcoming. We enjoyed learning about Bulgaria and specifically Kalofer's history. The room had everything we needed for our hiking holiday, even got the chance to taste some home made alcohol! :D The hotel is simplistic and beautiful! Just what we were looking for.

Visited for hiking to Balkan Mts, Botev Peak.

Visited for hiking to Balkan Mts, Botev Peak. Enjoyed our stay and the mountain. Imposing Socialist monument at the centre of the town. Nice restaurant at the very center. Nice draft beer and nice surrounding. Other restaurants of Kalofer were closed at the afternoon. We were surprised with the road network of Bulgaria which is in very good condition. Make sure you pay the appropriate vignette online before entering the country by car.

We were in Kalofer during the regional rose festival.

We were in Kalofer during the regional rose festival. Lots of festivities and people dancing in traditional dress. The museum of bobbin lace was quite interesting. The old school house has also been turned into a museum. Lovely revival style architecture.

I think tourists outside of Bulgaria should come prepared...

I think tourists outside of Bulgaria should come prepared with all the information they need about the hikings and siteseeing in Kalofer. We had a bit of trouble managing as we relied on local tourist information center but could'nt find it. Local people were extremely nice, but some didn't speak English. The Balkan park is stunning but roads are rough if you're not in a high 4×4, and trails are lacking signs in English.

The entire complex is great - a collection of small houses and a few larger, hotel-like buildings, situatied right at the foot of the mountain. The house we stayed at was nice and clean, more than spacious enough for 2 people. The lady who met us was super friendly and helpful, she welcomed us and gave us valuable information about a few peculiarities of the area - such as the fact that only one of the mobile phone carriers has coverage, the other two don't. But the wifi is good enough so we had no issues at all.

The house is more than well equipped, the beds are very comfortable and we definitely enjoyed our stay there. The area is also quite picturesque and there are so many things to do (spa, hikes, town walks, lots of restaurants available in radius of 30minutes by car). Kalofer itself also offers lots of greenery and sightseeing just by foot.

Value for money hotel at the Panitsite ( start of trail to Balkan Mts/ Botev Peak ). Comfortable for hikers. Spacious room for hikers. We asked for a late check in and the recepttionist waited for us. Much obliged. Parking lot just oposite of the hotel.

The staff and owner were available, kind and happy to serve and help. The location is ideal to visit the White River eco-trail, and central in Kalofer. The private garden is charming. And the shared kitchen very useful.
