This was certainly the nicest room we had on our entire trip. Large and cosy with a wonderful view of the lake. We were able to pay for the room by credit card as normal. Because withdrawing money did not work at any of the three ATMs in Copacabana. ( MasterCard )

We had a fantastic stay here. The room was a good size with a desk, a wardrobe and a TV that had ESPN sports channels! The rooms were cleaned daily with fresh shampoo and soap given each time. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was one of the best in Bolivia for us, scrambled egg, bread, cake as well as yogurt, fruit and hot drinks. The hotel has a different wifi for each floor so it runs smoothly with no issues.

The view was spectacular. It was quiet and away from the city center, but not too far. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Last, but not least, the hotel had laundry service reasonably priced.

Don't let the word Hostal fool you! This place is amazing - Copacabana was worth it just because of this place. What a magical experience seeing alpacas walk past your window and relaxing in the hammocks outside. The rooms are filled with useful amenities - they really value comfort. They even have games for you to use during your stay, and common spaces for after check out.

I love Copacabana.

I love Copacabana. It’s not been spoilt by mass tourism so when you look beyond the Main Street you find some real gems for food and a good beer! The market stalls are cute and have some gorgeous little gifts. The people are so friendly and kind, if not also a little bit shy. But I have noticed this along my travels through Bolivia a lot. They do great coffee at Pit Stop cafe - one of the best I’ve had since arriving in Bolivia! Loads of fresh fruit in the market too, mangoes will set you back 20p each!!! The UK could never! And they have a flavour!!! Lots of restaurants to choose from, I recommend seeing where the locals eat. I went to the Condor & Eagle Cafe based on how good the reviews were but honestly, it wasn’t worth the money. It was fine but I don’t get what the rave reviews are all about. I had a meal the following night in a small cafe full of locals and had a delicious meal!! Definitely check out the church in the centre opposite the square. Grab an ice cream from a caserita and chill in the square under the sun, watching the world go by. I felt so safe on my own as a solo female traveller. Would highly recommend!

It’s easy to get boat tickets and other forms of...

It’s easy to get boat tickets and other forms of transportation here. Lots of options. Make sure you go to Isla Del Sol, and I recommend staying two nights. We stayed in the south, boated to the north and walked the three hour spectacular trail back to the hotel.

Lake Titicaca is an awesome place to visit to spend a couple of days at least, if you love nature you will really enjoy this simple and awesome place, you will find good food, too, from Italian to awesome Ceviche at the main plaza. Check out Trattoria Sapori di Italia.

Copacabana surprised us, but was a fantastic place to visit...

Copacabana surprised us, but was a fantastic place to visit and at no time did we feel unsafe or threatened. The people are very very friendly and really try hard to communicate with you when English is not their language (in a lot of ways). Has a holiday atmosphere without losing its Bolivian roots and religious leanings. A great place to visit and soak in.

The main reason we went to Copacabana was to visit the Isla del Sol. Its a great day hike destination with beautiful views, Inca ruins and a chance to hike an Inca road. However, the restaurants, food stores and beach in Copacabana are mediocre.

The town is a good stop between La Paz and Peru but is nice enough itself with good access to walks and Isla del Sol etc. Really worth visiting the various Inca sites in town and around, including Inca Baths just outside, with its little museum and mummified body. If you stay on Isla del Sol beware the slope up from Yumani harbour to the town, it is almost vertical.

We absolutely loved our stay at Las Olas. The architecture is really whimsical and charming. Our room was huge and had everything we needed including an electric kettle for teas and coffee. The view of the lake from the room was beautiful. The real winner was the fireplace. We made a fire in the room both nights and looked up at the stars through the sky light. Each day the wood basket was replenished free of charge. I wish we could’ve stayed longer.

On arrival the host gave is all the information we needed to enjoy our time in Copacabana and Isla del Sol. Upon being shown our accommodation we were delighted as it was incredibly spacious with a private terrace, and very nicely decorated! And not unimportant, the breakfast was the best we have had in our past 2 months of traveling, including eggs, fruit, pancakes and more.

The balcony with a view of the lake was amazing, as was waking up and seeing the lake through the large room windows. The staff was incredibly helpful, polite and kind. The location is superb. Plentiful hot water in the shower. We appreciated the in hotel laundry service. We will always be glad we chose Hotel Lago Azul.
