The view was stunning. The breakfast was incredible and delivered right to our room so we could eat in privacy on our balcony overlooking the ocean/harbour. The coffee was so fresh and delicious. The staff were so lovely. The hot tub was great and I loved the outdoor lounge area where they were playing relaxing music. The room was clean and comfortable. We only booked one night and I really wanted to stay for another night but it was full. This might have been one of my favourite hotels I've ever stayed in.

Nestled in Santa Theresa (the best part of Rio in my opinion) you’ll find an oasis. The architecture and aesthetic of paranagua hotel is really truly amazing and the staff were so friendly and attentive. I will most definitely be back again next year! Thank you for a wonderful stay. Side note - lots of the reviews said it’s in a bad part of town. We felt completely safe here and met some amazing people and had the best time!

Hidden gem in Rio. Amazing view. Monkeys once in a while visit and they’re very peaceful. The strength of this beautiful place is in its owners who are like uncles to you. They know everything about the city and it’s nice to learn from them and to hear about their story. While also maintaining your privacy. Breakfast is marvelous and dressed up with sense of style. This adds an extra dimension to your stay! We have never have experienced such personal care like that in a commercial stay.

Sassy City of Samba

Home of samba, Brazil’s 2nd largest city is sassy, seductive and spectacular. The Rio Carnival is legendary the world over for outrageous costumes and infectious rhythms.

Host of the 2014 World Cup final in Maracanã stadium and the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics, Rio de Janeiro is forward-thinking. High rises line Ipanema beach and you can find dozens of rollerbladers on the promenades at any time.

The hottest spot is Copabacana, a great place to try biscoito globo, a typical Rio beach snack. Sip a caipirinha here while the sun sets over the bay and mountains – unforgettable. It doesn’t end there though. Clubbing in Rio is fantastic and ranges from techno to traditional bossa nova. Bohemian beats can be found in Santa Teresa and Lapa, whose trams pass over a double-arched viaduct.

Overlooking all this from Corcovado mountain is iconic Christ the Redeemer, welcoming the world to Rio with arms outstretched. Take the funicular railway up to this statue on the edge of lush Tijuca Park for incredible views. Accessed by cable car, Sugar Loaf Mountain is also not to be missed.

Rio de Janeiro Airport is well linked to the ‘Marvellous City’, but traffic can be manic, so leave enough time to reach it from your Rio hotel, apartment or hostel booked through Booking.com.

Rio, where I grew up, is the most beautiful city in the world. But it is still so dirty. When I was a child, the beach was cleaned early every morning, but this no longer happens, so the beach is a mess. The same for the streets. It’s a pity, and will put tourists off.

Very nice place to visit for a few days but you are always looking over your shoulder. People seem very pleasant and willing to help. Lots to see some nice places to visit and eat but sadly very little investment in infrastructure and alot of spray art work on any flat surface makes it all look very rough.

All good nice beaches , was warned to take care by so many people both before going and whilst there, but using common sense at no point did we feel threatened but we stayed only in the busy tourist areas

What I like most was the tour which included the Christ...

What I like most was the tour which included the Christ redeemer and Sugar Love plus an all you can eat buffet lunch. The tour was booked through the hotel. The night club within 5 minutes driving distance from the hotel was nice and staffs were super friendly. Getting around was pretty easy either via train, yellow taxi or Uber with reasonable fare.

Arena Hotel at Av Atlântica, Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil was wonderful, very nice crew, everyone super polite. They absolutely do everything to make guests feel welcome and special with very good prices. Definitely I will go back next year.

Undoubtedly among the most beautiful settings in the world. Lively and exciting. Charming people. Great food and service. A little dirty and must watch out to stay in the "right"areas to avoid trouble. Worth a week's stay and more.

What a fantastic place to stay in Rio! It’s spacious and light, tastefully decorated, absolutely safe … and the view is just jaw-dropping. We spent there a whole week and didn’t want to leave. The location is great, close to both Ipanema and Copacabana, and Lagoa itself is so nice. Unhotel team was in touch all the time and helped with our needs. Highly recommend! Amazing food, both brunch and dinner. Brunch until 11h30/12h00 weekends is really a plus! Great hospitality helping us with all our questions and helping us with booking activities Room with city view is big enough and extremely comfortable with nespresso machines, bath robes , snacks, enough plugs, qualitatively toiletries. The hotel is in the best location right at the beach and in the middle of Copacabana and Ipanema.

The location of this hotel is excellent, a block away from the Fairmont. Just steps from Copacabana beach and a quick uber ride from major destinations. Ipanema is a longer walk but posto 7 is a short 10-15 min walk. The room facilities are amazing and they offer usb charging a big desk, and spacious restroom. The value for the money is exceptional, and I have no regrets. Do not pay attention to the bad reviews.
