Amazing architecture, well described and educational museums, very nice polite people, pretty decent food and drink. You need about 4 days overall, to get to know the city, and possibly go back to the places you liked best (if that's your thing when you travel - it is for me). However, the religious thing does get a bit tiring, as does the noise level. Best part of town by a long stretch was Santo Antonio depois do Carmo, which is beyond the Pelourinho. A 'must see' city chock full of history reflected in the architecture and the well-preserved churches. The tourism infrastructure is well developed. Be sure to check out the San Antonio de Carmo neighborhood- it is a hidden gem near Pelourinho with lovely Pousadas, restaurants, bars, coffee shops and art spaces in restored historic buildings.Guest review byDawnUnited States - 10.0

Very lively city, historical and with lots to see do. There’s both historical and modern parts of the city, but the best thing about Salvador is its people. The place is nice, specially the old town Pelourinho.
The place is nice, specially the old town Pelourinho. The visit to George Amado's house on Rio Vermehlo is a gorgeous experience if you did read his books before going to Salvador Bahía. It has many historical places to visit. For me was a dream come true, because the place and the food is different to other places in Brasil. The pool and area for leisure is very good as well.
