I had an amazing stay at Riders Hotel in Laax, and I cannot recommend it enough! The atmosphere is a perfect blend of modern, stylish, and cozy, making it an ideal place to relax after a day on the slopes. The rooms are well-designed, comfortable, and perfectly suited for both adventure seekers and those looking to unwind. However, what truly made my experience outstanding was the exceptional service at the reception. The ladies at the front desk were simply incredible – always welcoming, smiling, and genuinely happy to assist with anything. Whether it was recommendations, handling requests (looking for a missing SKI:)), or just creating a warm and friendly atmosphere, they went above and beyond to ensure every guest felt valued. The hotel’s location is fantastic, with easy access to the ski lifts and all that Laax has to offer. If you’re looking for a place where great hospitality meets a vibrant and stylish setting, Riders Hotel is the place to be. I’ll definitely be returning! Huge thanks to the incredible Team!

Ilanz is a lovely little town with numerous historic...

Ilanz is a lovely little town with numerous historic buildings. It is a wonderful place to stay if you want to have easy access to numerous ski areas, walking trails and pretty villages. The bus and train services are excellent and very well-co-ordinated. There is a good range of shops, and bars and restaurants to suit all tastes.

Ilanz is very well located for reaching various hiking...

Ilanz is very well located for reaching various hiking trails using public transport. The postal buses run regularly in all directions, and the nearby Laaxer See is a gem for swimming after a long hike.

Ilanz is a small village with a charming old town center.

Ilanz is a small village with a charming old town center. For families, there's a lovely playground and even a lovely swimming pool! It's an ideal starting point for climbing to Vals or exploring the beautiful Val Lumnezia, as well as the rest of the Surselva.

Beautiful historic old town, everything within walking...

Beautiful historic old town, everything within walking distance: train station, cafes, restaurants. A good sense of security is essential, otherwise you'll get ripped off. Nice, affordable boutique right in front of the town hall fountain. Tip: Be sure to try the Graubünden specialties.

The first "town" on the Rhine is situated in a very beautiful landscape. Of course, you should also explore the surrounding area. Ilanz is a good starting point for the Rhine Gorge, Vals, the Grisons Oberland, etc.

I took the train through the Rhine Gorge – wonderful views!! I drove to Vella; the journey there was beautiful. I visited the Gallows Hill and enjoyed the view.

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay together with my dog to avoid the fireworks. There were still some fireworks, but that is none of the hotels fault and overall manageable. The staff was super nice and always happy to help. The location is also great as you have a few restaurants nearby and shops, too.

Lovely atmosphere, very welcoming staff, a number of nuns greeted you at meal times in a lovely way, all the facilities were spotless, located in a lovely location and the nearby town, Ilanz is very nice.
