The manager extended a warm welcome and offered us excellent suggestions for places to visit in and around Lijiang. The inn's staff is also incredibly considerate. The breakfast is simple but delicious, and the room design is quite appealing as well.

Our stay at Zen Garden Hotel Lijiang was absolutely exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and hospitality that made us feel instantly at home. The hotel is beautifully designed, blending traditional Naxi style with modern comfort, and the peaceful garden courtyard truly lives up to the name “Zen Garden.” The rooms were spotless, spacious, and thoughtfully decorated, with comfortable beds and all the amenities we needed. Waking up to the serene atmosphere and views was a highlight of our trip. The location is perfect—quiet and relaxing, yet within easy walking distance of Lijiang Old Town. A very special mention goes to Jimmy, whose outstanding hospitality truly made our stay unforgettable. He went above and beyond to help us with recommendations and local tips, always with a friendly attitude and genuine care. Another heartfelt thank you to the kind aunty who prepares breakfast every morning—her delicious, home-style breakfasts were a wonderful way to start each day and made us feel truly cared for. One small but important note for future guests: to fully enjoy both the hotel and discovering Lijiang on foot, guests should be reasonably fit, as there are stairs to walk up and down and plenty of cobbled paths to explore. For us, this only added to the charm and authentic experience of the area. If you’re looking for a tranquil, charming, and high-quality stay in Lijiang, Zen Garden Hotel is an outstanding choice. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The hotel is absolutely amazing. I am travelling the world woth my son and this trip was the best we ever had. We ended up staying longer. The host is amazing. She keeps in touch by wechat and she answered all our requests. She made our stay so much easier! The room is really spacious with comfy beds. The view is outstanding. I miss my mornings, when I just stared out of the window on the ancient city rooftops. The location is great- very centrally located yet you just make 1 turn from the buzzlin street and it's absolutely quiet. We had best nights there. Also during the whole stay i never locked the room and we were out till late. This is how safe it is. Priceless. I am the host myself and usually approach the hotels with high demands, but this time there was nothing to complain about. I purely enjoyed everything.

We had a truly wonderful time here! The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. One of the highlights was the thoughtfully prepared, local-style breakfast—absolutely delicious and a great way to start the day. I will stay at this hotel again. The breakfast is simple and delicious. Both Chinese and Western styles are acceptable. The room is spacious and clean, facing the inner courtyard. However, the windows must be closed with blinds to prevent anyone from looking in. The atmosphere of the hotel.courtyard is great. It is located in the center of the ancient city. You can take a walk on the old street. The staff is friendly, polite, and helpful; I am very satisfied.

The homestay enjoys a prime location, near the South Gate of Shuhe Ancient Town, with convenient transportation and a beautiful surrounding environment. The room environment is exactly to my liking, and it offers extremely high - cost performance. Both the service and facilities exceeded my expectations. The housekeeper warmly entertained us, was responsive to all requests and answered all questions, making us feel at home. There is a private parking lot, free charging piles, and a laundry room. There is an elevator on all four floors. The young men and women at the inn greet us warmly when we enter and leave, and they help us make travel plans to avoid tourist traps. The environment of the store is simply breathtaking. The stay experience was wonderful, and I highly recommend it!

I enjoyed the view from my guest house, and the proximity to the ancient village. Also learning about the Nazi and Tibetan cultures at the Museums and temples. Yulong Mountain held special experiences for me.

We spent two days in Lijiang as part of a week long trip in Yunnan province. Staying at the periphery of the Shuhe old town was good choice as we could always walk in. A highlight of the trip was an afternoon at Snow mountain and the chairlift, gondola rides up the mountain and the Blue Moon lake (pictures attached). Lijiang old town is a nice contrast to larger and more famous Dali old town. One regret we had on the trip was not using LIjiang as a springboard to go further north to see the Bai native people and Shangri-La. As a North American, I was unable to rent a car but getting around with Didi is economical and efficient. Near the north gate of Shuhe old town, I enjoyed a delicious yak meat hot pot.

The surrounding environment is pleasant and makes people feel relaxed. The room is clean and tidy, with every detail showcasing its quality. The hotel offers a variety of entertainment facilities, allowing guests to fully enjoy their leisure time. The service is impeccable, highly recommended!

Lijian old town is full of tourist shops, very few locals live there. It is very busy in the afternoon and evening with tourists, even in low season ie Dec and Jan when we visited. The local night food market is good on edge of the old city. Go there for an experience. Cheap eats and real Lijiang atmosphere. Recommend visit to Biasha village. Shuwue not so great. A beautiful park on the edge of Lijiang old town, Dragon Pool park well worth a visit. 50yuan entry fee, but if 60 years old its free.

Beautiful place. Great weather and lots of places to visit. People there are so eager to welcome you. Although some other rural chinese tourists can be quite annoying but after all, it is their country. Glad to be here

Fantastic place … Ancient Town is fabulous.

Fantastic place … Ancient Town is fabulous. No motor vehicles, motor bikes or bikes apart from service vehicles. To get a taxi you have to walk to outside the town and delivery drivers have to park outside and walk the delivery in. Call your accom when you get off the train ( 20 mins taxi ride .. 30 yuan ) and they will meet you at the gate with a trolley to carry your bags. The stone streets are brutal to drag a suitcase across! Photo central. It is many centuries old and is presented beautifully. They celebrate the waterways with flowers and landscaping that is fabulous Take a good camera. Day trips to Shangrila (high speed train) and Tiger leaping gorge (bus) are a must and the scenery is breathtaking. Not a bad thing to say about Lijiang. So many choices of food, shopping, drink and entertainment. The dancing ladies at square street every night is a must see - and join in ! Have an iPhone 10 or better to download the few apps you will need to get by just fine as a solo traveller who can say hello and thank you in Chinese and nothing else. Awesome place and an obvious choice to use as a base

Nice, little hotel with excellent ambience within Lijiang Ancient Town. Since it is 10 min walking distance from the main road, the free tricycle luggage transfer is really appreciated as it saves rolling luggages across the stone pathway. It is strategically located within walking distance to key attractions. There are restaurants to cater to different budget within walking distance. Staff is helpful and friendly.

Best hotel in Lijiang! + Mandy!! She was so so helpful, sorted us out for our trip to Tiger Leaping Gorge and even got up early to walk us to the bus! She has excellent English and made the trip super easy. The hotel is beautiful and in a great location, easy walk to all of the old town spots. The room was comfortable, spacious and clean. A wonderful little inn. - Nothing comes to mind
