The family that own and run this property are wonderful and so friendly. A local Tico tribe of amazing people! The grounds are beautiful and Toucans and Bats frequent daily! The beach directly below the property is wild and beautiful and we were always the only ones there with fine dark brown sand and patches of shells and small rocks for treasure hunting for the day! I felt more relaxed and inspired after our 5 days and the simplicity of life at this place is the real plus! If you want the Hilton Hotel then this isn’t for you but if you want to decompress, enjoy nature and the people you love then this is the place for you!

The hotel is isolated, so you only hear the sounds of the jungle there. you can see a lot of birds right outside of the room!! the room is very comfortable! the staff made our stay unforgettable - they helped us organize the tours in Corcovado National Park and Isla del Cano. they would organize the times for breakfast, departure from the hotel, pick us up in the end of the tours, the boat shuttles, so we could just enjoy and don’t have to think about any logistics at all. I highly recommend and I’ll be back!

Drake Bay is a remote yet breathtaking destination, and our stay at Natural Drake Bay Hotel made our visit truly unforgettable. We spent four nights here as the final leg of our Costa Rica trip, hoping to find a comfortable place that would enhance our experience of this faraway corner of the world. I’m thrilled to say we couldn’t have chosen a better place. Natural Drake Bay is a family-run hotel situated in a stunning location, perched perfectly to offer beautiful views of the bay. Both the pool and restaurant offer stunning views of the bay, creating a mesmerizing scene —at one point, we even saw whales jumping from the water! The beach is also just a 3 minute walk. Patricia, Daniel, and their team, particularly Victor, provide a luxurious experience. Throughout our stay, we felt very well cared for. Everyday, when you arrive, Patricia welcomes you with refreshing, beautifully scented cold towels, which is a wonderful treat after a hot day. Victor then serves the most exquisite fruit juices I’ve ever tasted. Even when activities (Corcovado Park visit, Snorkeling in Caño Island, ….) started at the crack of dawn, they were there to prepare breakfast for you The hotel takes great pride in highlighting local cuisine at dinner, with top quality produce exquisitely cooked. The rooms offer views of the surroundings, which were full of life (Birds, Iguanas, Monkeys) and relaxing in the hammocks was a spectacle in itself. Toucans would perch in the tree next to the cabin, while showering. The toiletries were of high quality, adding to the overall sense of luxury. In summary, Natural Drake Bay Hotel provided us with an exceptional experience, combining comfort, natural beauty, and warm hospitality.

Quality food, great staff Staff did put together a lot of stuff to do for us and every thing we asked for was settled in a record time. We were there for new years eve and the tuna was to die for !!! we saw toucans and other great wildlife in our three days at the property Thanks Roy for putting up with us !

We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean, comfortable, and in a great location. The host, Mayela, was so helpful and accommodating. She also booked the boat to and from Sierpe for us. Breakfast was delicious and included a vegan option. Highly recommend to anyone going to Drake Bay.

Central location, comfortable room.

Central location, comfortable room. The pool was really lovely to sit near and relax, cool off. Staff was exceptional and helpful in all manners. Receptionist helped me book all of my activities and was super accommodating. The restaurant staff were so friendly, and even remembered my name after I came a few times. Very convenient to have on site. It had everything I coud want and price was reasonable. I already want to go back and will book there again.

It was very remote.

It was very remote. We spent three nights there and enjoyed early active mornings and chill afternoons with an early dinner and bedtimes. There's not much to do at night which was fine by us. We loved watching the town wake up in the morning. We went diving at Cano Island and loved the turtles and all of the varieties of fish. The water was so clear when we went, it was one of the better diving experiences in Costa Rica so far!

Fantastic stay.

Fantastic stay. Exactly as described except wifi didn't work in our room, we had to go to the office/breakfast area to use it. The views from the room were spectacular overlooking Drake Bay. We had daily visits from capuchins, macaws, parrots, hummingbirds, etc The beds were comfortable as were the chairs and hammocks on the porch. Handrails going up the steep tire steps to the room would have been helpful. The owner went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was delicious and made to order.

Great place to stay if you want to visit Corcovado national...

Great place to stay if you want to visit Corcovado national park. Not only Corcovado is worthwhile but Drake Bay itself as well. I would recommend taking the boat from Sierpe to Drake Bay as it’s very convenient and the boat ride is extremely scenic!

Very nice peaceful place, at the grounds of a friendly costarican family, right on the edge of the rainforest. Beautiful Ganadito beach is at walking distance. The cabin where we slept was new and fine.

The flora and fauna of adjacent parks is amazing but you...

The flora and fauna of adjacent parks is amazing but you must visit them with a guide for the appropriate access and to really appreciate what is there. Drake is a the ideal place from which to reach the parks. We travelled to Drake Bay by intercity bus from San Jose and connected with the ferry. The "wet landing" was a first for us - a genuine adventure where the ferry assistants wade your luggage to shore on their shoulders and the passengers just focus on getting themselves to shore. The ferry takes an hour or so through amazing mangroves. Make sure to tell your hotel to book you on the ferry to avoid misunderstanding -- there are only two ferries per day and you don't want to lose a day/night in Sierpe. The park is amazing --book a tour well in advance as daily entries are limited. Access to the park is by boat. Birds galore, several species of monkey including the mighty howler, tapirs, two species of ant eater, and many more creatures. We did the snorkeling tour too which was also amazing. We saw deep sea turtles, sharks, manta rays and a plethora of species of fish. Beautiful, pristine and rules about not interrupting wildlife. For example, we were watching a turtle and she started to rise for air and we all had to move back 4-6 metres and we had the joy of then watching her float on the surface for a while and just rock in the waves. The location is superb - surrounded by forest, away from the bustle of Drakes Bay, backing on to its own safe beach. The staff are charming and very helpful, and did everything possible to help us eg by booking tours, making sure we got on the right boat each day, and arranging meals to suit our tour schedule. The food in the restaurant is good and reasonably priced. Our room ( a bungalow), like all the others, had a lovely view through the trees to the sea. In the hotel grounds we say sloth, macaws and a semi resident toucan.

A very nice place with a beautiful view from the common space. The rooms are very well kept and very clean. The Cabinas Pura Vida are located like 15 min walking from the port, but the owner picked us up once we arrived there and then dropped us off while we were leaving Drake Bay. This location also means it is a bit further from the city noise. He was also very flexible with breakfast as we needed to catch the boat at 6, he prepared us breakfast at 5:20 in the morning.

Beautiful hotel with fantastic food. Lovely staff we felt really pampered. Hotel has its own beach with suspension walkway. So much wildlife amazing views across bay from restaurant area. Organised a trip to national park accessed by speedboat a night tour and a snorkelling trip. Seemed expensive when booked but definitely worth it we would stay again one of nicest hotels in Costa Rica.

We loved this hotel. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are nicely designed and comfortable. The location is great and near the beach and restaurants. The staff are all so kind and can book your tours for you. Johnny in particular was so welcoming and kind and made us feel so at home. We ate dinners at the hotel which were delicious and felt like a nice home cooked meal.
