Grecia is a wonderful little town.

Grecia is a wonderful little town. I was here to find a new home so I was looking throughout the area and visited Atenas and Naranjo as well. We decided on a place near Naranjo. In Grecia I ate at several local Sodas which were fantastic and a more upscale restaurant called Bariles which was fantastic. POPs ice cream shop is also highly recommended. In Atenas I ate at a really good Italian restaurant called Firenze. The Pasta Puttanesca was cooked to perfection. When driving watch for motorcycles.

The town might appeal to some, but it's not my cup of tea...

The town might appeal to some, but it's not my cup of tea for CR. High population density, loud, lots of traffic. The main town square, around the park and church, isn't as peaceful as other CR towns and there were numerous panhandlers. We didn't find any stores or places to eat worth mentioning.

Grecia is a very good base to visit the area. Very clean, and reasonable priced. We took the local bus everywhere and it was very doable. Also you can find a lots of tours, or a local can drive you at a very reasonable price.

The people are very cordial and helpful.

The people are very cordial and helpful. The town has most of the amenities that one would look for in a foreign country. We enjoyed eating at Cafe Delicias #1. We were able to navigate in a car after we discovered the one way streets and the parking rules. We are not young people, I am 82 and my wife is 78. We are looking forward to spending at least 6 months next year living in the area.

Grecia was not as expected from literature I read because of it's size and amount of traffic. The main down town area was very busy with bad sidewalks which made walking the town difficult. Lovely cathedral and park and great restaurants. Local people were friendly and helpful. We ate at Los Barriles twice because the food was so delicious and very reasonably priced. La Terraza Bed & Breakfast was the nicest hotel we stayed at in the Grecia area.

Allow at least half a day at Poas National Park, as you'll...

Allow at least half a day at Poas National Park, as you'll need to wait for clear skies to see the crater and the adjacent lake. The hike is easy at 2500m (parking is 900m to 2300m). On December 7th, 2024: temperatures were between 5 and 12 degrees Celsius at the summit with winds of up to 100km/h. Dress warmly!

The hotel is very lovely. It is clean with a nice little kitchen in the room. The staff were super friendly and the breakfast was really nice. And in the morning you can hear all the birds in the trees surrounding the hotel rooms. It was an absolute pleasure to stay there.

Great place and simple place to stay in Grecia. The woman at the reception was very friendly and helpful. Thanks to her if you had a great dinner nearby. Near to the local market where we had a perfect breakfast.
