Everything was perfect. The hotel is recently renovated in a very modern and though cosy style. The beds are comfortable and the breakfast is wonderful. I felt at home from the moment I entered the room. There are various nice restaurants in the same structure which I liked very much, as I didn’t have to take a taxi to go for dinner. Very safe area. I will definitely come back.

Quite new so things worked well. Quite modern luxury. And you could walk to the other side of the street and visit another Hilton with a nice pool with greenery and more cozy facilities. They had a very nice area for sitting and working.

Lots of reviews say not to spend too long in san jose as there is nothing to do. But i disagree. I spent 5 nights there and found lots of places to see.. visit.. eat at ..different neighbourhoods. There are free walking tours in the city that give you lots of information, lots of museums, lots of shops, lots of day trips nearby, lots of coffee tours nearby, lots of pubs to crawl and lots of costa rican hospitality!

The city itself has few tourist attractions.

The city itself has few tourist attractions. We loved the National Museum, especially the butterfly room. One day is probably sufficient to see the main attractions, but it's worthwhile to stay a little bit longer. There are other attractions outside the city, but you need to make on-line reservations ahead of time.

The country is beautiful and the people are lovely, at the very least helpful, but most are actually very friendly and nice. I loved the life motto in Costa Rica, one learns to take life slower and appreciate the simple things in life. The world needs to preserve it's Flora and Fauna and I got the feeling that people in Costa Rica are aware of this. Pura Vida <3

We stayed 3 nights, two full days, on our first visit to Costa Rica, before heading to a rain forest lodge, Our purpose for staying in San Jose was primarily to get a feel for the country and its history.. SJ is an interesting town, well worth a few days stay. We recommend the free guided walking tour, and the National museum, especially its butterfly garden! Sadly we didn't have enough time to visit the Jade museum, which was the favourite of our walking tour guide, nor the art museum.

It is not very nice city. Streets are dirty and smelly.

It is not very nice city. Streets are dirty and smelly. I really liked the asian part though (I really recommend the Igo Ramen restaurant). We didn't explore the city, just spent there night after and before the flights.

Costa Rica is one of the better economies in Central America...

Costa Rica is one of the better economies in Central America and San Jose somewhat reflects this in prices - I have travelled a lot in south and central america and San Jose isn't cheap. Resturants etc add on local tax and service charge and tip?? - Bit like USA - however the central market is great for cheap local food and very nice. Our accomodation was in Escalante which is an up and coming suburb (30 mins walk to central San Jose) - and there are plenty cafes and resturants in that area - Uber is cheap....But many places are walkable. We did a one day volcano tour (crater lake is gone - not as per the pictures), but it was interesting - particularly the Cartago bascilica - and the central university sloth tour and central San Jose walking tours are good. Its not the excitement of the Mexico City 'Dias de Muertos' or the dramatic central square - I was there early Nov 25, but Costa Rica was good experience - nice people - and plenty good beaches and wild life.

Supercute hostel with charming interior and comfy beds. Has a nice common kitchen and cosy balcony as well, the owner is superfriendly and helpful, I had a really nice stay and can highly recommend it. It’s around 10-15 min walk to the central market in a calm area. A really great and comfy first point when starting a Costa Rica trip in San José :) also the Airport shuttle was a great and easy Option to reach the hostel a bit later at Night, thanks a lot for such a nice starting Point Overall :) .

A cute rustic-style hotel, centrally located within a walking distance of everything there is to see for a tourist in San Jose downtown. The buffet breakfast did not offer great variety, but was traditional Costa Rican, very tasty and sufficient. No restaurant within the hotel, but some good choices within a block or two away.

Loved this hotel. Stayed here before and as good as I remembered. The room is very large, clean and comfortable with an amazing bed. The bar and restaurant are both great with very helpful staff. Not far from down town San Jose . Parking Decent pool area
