This was one of the best places I've ever stayed in (I'm only 24). The balance between being in the middle of nature, and having some luxury, space, incredible food... it's exactly what I wanted. I felt like a retired old lady being perfectly taken care of.

The landscape is nothing short of spectacular—hardened black lava, rugged volcanic terrain, and an ever‑present view of the majestic volcano create a surreal and immersive experience. The funco structure—a traditional Cape Verdean circular house—is thoughtfully built with sustainability in mind: pallet furniture, rainwater harvesting, reused water for plants and toilets, solar panels for electricity, and solar‑heated water. Every morning, a freshly prepared breakfast by Restaurant Isabel was delivered directly to my room—sweet and savory pastries, fruit, and juice—luxurious in its simplicity. My hosts, Léa and João, were absolutely wonderful. They welcomed me warmly from the moment I arrived, with genuine kindness and a sense of caring that made me feel instantly at ease. João is a guide, ask him for hikings! I also want to highlight the friendliness of every person I met in the area—they were open, warm, and made this journey feel safe and connected. At night, I would gaze up at the stars from my cozy funco—the sky, completely free of light pollution, felt like a universe unfolding just for me.

Very near to the volcano and the start of the hiking trail, amazing view. Great hosts, the food is amazing. We had breakfast and dinner there. The room is very clean and tidy. The village is very quiet and safe. Amazing for a walk.

Omg top location, it cant be better! Owner is amazing, she is very very helpful and so positive. You can organise vulcano trip with quide by her. She is also helping to organize taxi from airport. Food prepared with all healthy restrictions. Place is magnificient, a bit cold at night time but additional blanket is available. Warm water is there but after a bit of waiting time

The location is perfect. Right at the start for the hike to Fogo. The location in booking is (as of today) not correct, its right in the center of the village. But the owners are superfriendly and can send you the details via WhatsApp. I arrived late because I was hiking till sunset and he waited outside on the street, and after check in I got a really delicious meal. The room has 3 comfy beds, enough plugs to charge and extra blankets. The bathroom is modern and has a shower (unlucky only with cold water). In the main building there are tables and chairs and a small bar. There is beer, wine, softdrinks, water.... Everything is clean and the WiFi works great. Breakfast is included, but I didn't use it as I was out hiking. From the house you have perfect views of Fogo. I can really recommend this place.

Adriano and Filomena welcomed our group of 4 people in their house. The place was perfect for us: great location, wonderfull view on the caldeira and on the volcano, quality of the staff, size of the room, good food made by them. They have done everything to feel at home. Take time to discuss with Adriano, he has many stories to tell you about the caldeira and about Fogo. Thanks Adriano and Filomena for these days on another planet !
