Large flat with two bedrooms and kitchen annex. Very comfortable beds and large sofa. Kitchen has everything You need, including multifunctional microwave with oven-like mode. Good for up to 4-6 people. Helpful host. There is a small shop nearby with friendly shopkeeper, although quite expensive.

An excellent spot in the Hartz Mountains, which is a convenient starting point for exploring the area. Elend is located in the central area of the mountains and the building with the apartment is on the edge of the forest, in a quiet environment full of greenery. The apartment is well equipped and the space is organized perfectly. We were surprised by the attention to detail and many small, but very useful and nice elements (e.g. an above-standard set of dishes, a coffee brewing set with a lot of coffee, cubes and cables for charging many electronic devices at once, numerous board games, etc.). It is very clean and even styrylny. The hosts are very helpful and respond quickly to questions or requests. For 3 days we saw about 25% of the attractions from our list, so we will probably go to the Hartz Mountains and then we will definitely use this apartment.

A truly outstanding stay! The room was comfortable with a brand-new bathroom, and the view from the terrace was just stunning. The owning couple are such lovely people who clearly put a lot of care and attention into every detail. Breakfast was amazing and far above what you’d normally expect in this area. A good central base for exploring the Harz region. Not a large choice of local restaurants. The limited bus service was good and free with the guest card. The Brocken steam railway ran close by and had a station in the village.

What I like very much is that, the staffs are very...

What I like very much is that, the staffs are very accommodating. Serving breakfast with smile and respect whoever you are. Even you are foreigner ( not German). The rooms are clean. I can personally suggest this place to those who are planning to spend their vacation in a very quit and peaceful place.

In the small village of Elend, there's a tiny shop that has...

In the small village of Elend, there's a tiny shop that has everything we needed! We were able to visit the small wooden church and ride the narrow-gauge railway. Hiking trails are well signposted. The small forest swimming pool and restaurant weren't open yet... but it's in a very idyllic location!

Elend is a small village on the former inner-German border.

Elend is a small village on the former inner-German border. The village was located in the former restricted zone. It has a bathhouse with a very good restaurant. The village is not far from Schirke and the Brocken mountain. The village has a train station on the Harz Cross Railway.

Elend has a beautiful church and the locals are very friendly. Unfortunately, there are no restaurants on Mondays and Tuesdays, which was very important to us. Elend is very well located for hikers; you can hike in all directions. It's also great that you can use the buses in the Harz Mountains for free.

A small, quite quiet village.

A small, quite quiet village. There's a small grocery store and places to eat. Larger shopping facilities are about 6 km away. Elend is a good starting point for hiking or cycling. Schierke is 2.5 km away on foot via a forest path. I really enjoyed the peace and quiet there.
