A beautiful hotel set on the edge of the old village in a lovely natural environment, the garden and extensive grounds are a wonderful wildlife haven. The room and bathroom were both very spacious. The breakfast buffet has a huge variety of choice.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was very extensive, and the hostess encouraged us to make sandwiches for our onward journey. A perfect place for a stop along the Elbe cycling route!

Lenzen, Germany, lacks a good restaurant.

Lenzen, Germany, lacks a good restaurant. The town has one discount supermarket, Netto, which offers cheap products of mediocre quality. There is a bakery opposite the supermarket with standard items. The breakfast rolls with cheeses and ham are okay but nothing special. I attempted to visit a tapas bar called 'Mike's'. Despite arriving early at around 5 PM, I, along with a couple who arrived at the same time, were turned away, being told it was fully booked, even though approximately 90% of the tables were empty. While I understand that guests may have been booked for later, it would be helpful if the restaurant considered two sittings in the evening. As I was dining alone, I would have finished within 45 minutes. The waitress greeted us in an unfriendly manner and was dismissive, which was off-putting. Although I was staying in Lenzen for a week and would have booked for another evening, her attitude discouraged me, and I would never return. Lenzen presents a rather sad impression. The beautiful old 'fachwerk' or half-timbered historic houses are crumbling, lending the village a certain charm but also a sense of decay. There seems to be little to retain residents, and the village is visibly deteriorating. This is unfortunate, as Lenzen has much to offer with its wonderful location, cobbled lanes and alleys, a beautiful lake, the Elbe River, and stunning surrounding countryside for walking and cycling. On a positive note, all the local people I met were very friendly and helpful. This was a sentiment shared by everyone in our group, which made our interactions in Lenzen more pleasant.

Lenzen is charming thanks to its peaceful, rural setting.

Lenzen is charming thanks to its peaceful, rural setting. Unfortunately, many of the beautiful old farmhouses are in a state of disrepair, which, however, is partly beneficial to the local birdlife. I also appreciated that most of the gardens are kept in a natural state. The surrounding area is stunning and perfect for walks and excursions.

Lenzen Castle, the open church, the café in the market...

Lenzen Castle, the open church, the café in the market square, Norma and Netto supermarkets, the petrol station, beverage stores, the bakery… renovated half-timbered houses, friendly people, the Elbe and Löcknitz rivers, nature… everything was within walking distance. Other sights could be visited by car… cycling would also have been an option… very flat area…

We enjoyed Lenzen Castle, and the nearby Rudower See lake is...

We enjoyed Lenzen Castle, and the nearby Rudower See lake is a highlight for water sports enthusiasts and campers. Unfortunately, there are few restaurants, and the opening hours (9 am to 12 pm) leave something to be desired. Cycling is a good option, with excellent bike paths along the Elbe River.

Beautiful old town. Lots of half-timbered houses. Unfortunately, many are still unrestored and empty. Located directly on the Elbe Cycle Path and the Brandenburg Tour. Renovated castle. Many migratory birds and red deer in the Elbe meadows – fantastic! Ferry across the Elbe.

We were on a cycling tour (Elbe Cycle Path).

We were on a cycling tour (Elbe Cycle Path). Ultimately, we were primarily looking for a place to stay overnight. We had dinner at the Schützenhaus (shooting club). The food was delicious. The place didn't seem very lively. Lenzen Castle is definitely worth seeing.
