I'm from Maulbronn and was there for my class reunion. Maulbronn Monastery is truly worth seeing. It's completely intact. However, Maulbronn, just like when I was young, is a very sleepy provincial town. A definite no-go for young people!

The exceptionally well-preserved monastery complex is, of course, a wonderful sight and absolutely worth the trip. Unfortunately, the rest of Maulbronn has absolutely nothing to offer (apart from a few pleasant paths in the vineyards above the monastery). The dining options are, sadly, only mediocre.

Maulbronn boasts the best-preserved Cistercian monastery, which is why many visitors come to Maulbronn. I came to Maulbronn for a private meeting that takes place there twice a year. Since I was only staying overnight, I didn't have to make any extra demands on the room! I've stayed at the "Klosterpost" several times before and will continue to do so.

The monastery and its surroundings offer enough to explore for a day trip, but for longer stays, you should probably look elsewhere. It was perfect for our planned layover – but be warned: due to the awkwardly placed closures, finding food on Mondays can be a bit more difficult than usual.

Great location a short walk away from the main street in Maulbronn. Quiet, self-contained lower ground floor apartment (on a slope, and so it has direct outdoor space) which has been furnished very nicely and well equipped with kitchen equipment including a drip-coffee maker. The apartment was spotlessly clean. Stephen and Edith were super-helpful and very prompt in replying to our questions prior to the trip with local recommendations, travel advice etc - many thanks for your kind hospitality.
