FAQs about hotels in Munich

Beyond Oktoberfest

Renowned for its stunning architecture and the world’s largest fair, Oktoberfest, Munich needs little introduction. Its vibrant cultural scene, great shopping and fantastic museums speak for themselves.

Munich has something for everyone: from historic palaces and castles, to stunning royal avenues to world class galleries and museums. Don't miss the new city hall in the heart of Marienplatz or the former residence of the Bavarian kings, the Residenz. Munich is also home to the world’s most famous beer hall, the Hofbräuhaus.

For great shopping, Karlsplatz is another commercial wonderland square that takes up much of the city centre and the upscale area around Maximilianstrasse. Munich is famous for its food too, so make sure you try the local Weißwurst, Leberkässemmeln and other popular pork dishes.

Thanks to efficient S-Bahn train, getting to the city centre from Germany’s second busiest airport, Munich International Airport is quick and easy. Whether you’re looking for luxury hotels, youth hostels or comfortable apartments, Booking.com has the perfect accommodation for your Munich visit.

Lovely old town area with beautiful typical Bavarian...

Lovely old town area with beautiful typical Bavarian architecture. Don't miss out Marienplatz with the glockenspiel show and to climb the cathedral tower for some great views. Typical German cuisine and beer houses are in abundance in this area too. We only had a couple of days here so we will be coming back to visit other places in the city we didn't have time for. We took a train journey from the city centre to visit Neuschwanstein Castle which was stunning. An easy journey from Munich main station. Lots to do in and around Munich and we are already planning our next visit!

Great city with lots to see.

Great city with lots to see. We did the two day bus tour - booked through they your guide which was a little cheaper. Food is amazing and the people are helpful. We used the DB app to book our S and U Bahn tickets this way you don’t need to worry about validating as it’s fine in the appt. If you travel with 3 plus people book the group ticket. We live in London and use the tube the Munich travel system is very similar except much cleaner. The city is full of history. Shops are shut on Sundays but cafes and bars are open alongside tourist attractions. The city is quiet on Sundays .

My wife loved the city's architecture and culture.

My wife loved the city's architecture and culture. I loved the quiet parks. We had great weather, so walking around the city centre was really enjoyable and with a weekly travel pass, it wasn't too expensive to use the comprehensive transport system to reach the further parts of the city. Plenty of places to eat out in Munich, although many of those places in the historical centre get crowded at lunchtime. It's a big city, but has a more laid-back atmosphere compared to many other cities of a similar size

Munich is a surprising city to visit.

Munich is a surprising city to visit. Parts of it are seedy and best avoided while others are extremely pleasant. That being said at no point during our stay did we feel uncomfortable or threatened. It has a fabulous collection of palaces, starting with the city centre Residenz, and several others within easy travelling distance. it also has an absolutely fantastic grouping of museum in the Kunstreal with world class collections to suit almost everybody taste. Generally the food in Bavaria is meat based so you can eat a hearty meal in most restaurants. They also have a wide spectrum of international restaurants scattered throughout the city. The better restaurants need to be be booked as they get really busy. We booked all of ours well in advance based on recommendations from friends. I checked Google scores for all the restaurant we ate at and they were all 4.5 or above. So our friends have good taste!

Munich is my frequent visiting city.

Munich is my frequent visiting city. The last time was 2015, quite long time ago. The residenz palace is a marvelous place where you can take a look at old day’s glory and stories in it. Pinakotek museums house so many of important art work of the world! Needless to say “Visit!”

I did not find that much in Munich to see and do.

I did not find that much in Munich to see and do. The Olympic park and english garden were nice. The Science muesum was amazing. View from the St. Peter's Church tower was amzing but the ticket seller was a total shit to tourists. He didn't like the science symbol on my husand'ss hat, thought we were atheists and didn't then want to sell us tickets. Could not figure out how to get a train ticket to the airport and thought we could get it on the train. Oh no! and $70 per person fine! Some nice people and some not so nice. Go to Vienna or Prague instead.

Location was excellent - less than 5 min walk to Munich hbf Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely, comfortable bed, great bathroom with good quality toiletries, excellent AC, faced courtyard and was really quiet at night. Complimentary tea, coffee, water and fruit available in lobby which was a lovely touch. Excellent Italian and bakery across the road. Would recommend King's Hotel for a city centre stay within easy walking distance of all historical sites, museums etc.

We needed a hotel that was in easy reach from the airport by car with parking as well as being easy to reach Munich centre. The hotel delivered just that, super easy to find and ample parking (for a fee) in the garage below the hotel. The U-Bahn station is just around the corner and it's only a few stops into Munich city centre. There are also a few restaurants around so you can just have a bite to eat in the vicinity.

Travelled to Munich for the Euro Cup and despite being an insanely busy time for the city & hotel, everything ran very smoothly. Check in was easy, rooms were clean and a good size. The staff were lovely and the bar area was really well run even late into the night. Also a quick walk into the city centre.

The location of this hotel is good, not very far from the city centre (around 15-20 minutes' metro) and there is a direct train to the city centre which is very convenient. The facilities are very good and the staffs are very nice. In Munich, the price of this hotel is worth of value.
