Bèrchules is a typical Alpujarra small village perched on...

Bèrchules is a typical Alpujarra small village perched on the side of a hill. There is a chemist, cashpoint, 2 shops and of course, a church. 1 or 2 cafè restaurants. Parking is fairly easy. The usual problem is mobility, steep streets which are tricky unless you have strong legs and knees! Opening hours in these small villages are "flexible" to say the least so check before you set off on an uphill trek for a meal or a shop. I find self-catering properties in this area is usually your best bet then you have a choice. This particular village boasts the curious custom of celebrating New Years Eve at the beginning of August. But you must ask the locals about that..............

It's not a very big village, with hills like most villages...

It's not a very big village, with hills like most villages in the area, but it has a lot of charm. Peace and quiet, and spectacular views of the mountains. The village bars are typical, serving excellent food made with local products. In August, they celebrate their own special New Year's Eve because of what happened several years ago when they lost power due to a snowstorm.

Berchules is a small town; we only stayed a short time.

Berchules is a small town; we only stayed a short time. The scenery is beautiful. The road to get there is very winding, so if you're driving, be patient and drive slowly on the curves. The town has narrow streets, many of them uphill, so it's easier to get around on foot. There are few places to eat and some small shops. The people are very friendly.

It's a place to disconnect, a village without tourism. A very beautiful place for hiking because of its landscapes and the potential of its nature, although it needs considerable investment in that area.

Bérchules itself is a tiny village with two bars and one grill restaurant. It's a great place to unwind; we used it to sleep while exploring the rest of the Alpujarra region, which is very beautiful.

Casa Rural El Paraje is a beautiful place, a cosy old farm house completely renovated into a comfortable B&B. The staff is kind and accommodating and they make an extraordinary good dinner and fantastic breakfast. A bit out of Bérchules, you are on the hill overlooking the amazing Alpujarras valley. The rooms are great and there is space for games and TV / relaxing as well as a swimming pool

This is not a 3* hotel, it is a series of small apartments and there are no central facilities, each apartment is self catering and they are comfortable and basic. The hosts were new, they'd only been there a month before we arrived and were friendly and eager to please but didn't know much about the area.

Location…simple hotel we have visited many times. Warm welcome and very friendly hosts. It is under new management and is understandably different from our previous trips but we were very comfortable as usual. We were given our favourite room which was a lovely touch. The food was generally very good.

It was a great hotel, in a perfect location for hiking. We had a very comfortable stay and even had a swim in the pool, which was great after a long hike. Breakfast was outstanding. We would definitely stay again
