The most amazing views! We stayed in the bungalows. Staff very helpful even though minimal english. The beds were very comparable, cabins were clean. Air con worked well, unfortunately couldn’t leave the door open to get the breeze as lots of insects (a screen door would minimise the need for the AC). It was brilliant thank you

A lovely self-built wooden building, with some excellent self-built furniture. A shower so good I had to turn down the pressure; really comfortable large double bed. Lovely views outside the windows of the spacious and comfortable guests' common room. Great location for visiting Besalu, which is lovely, and the Garrotxa, an area of beautiful woods and dormant volcanic peaks. The restaurant literally over the road provided excellent food in a very friendly environment. Finally our hostess was very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We loved this stay. In a small village with just a church and the bar-restaurant (very good). There is a car park at Place de l'Eglise which is close to the hotel. Beware the streets are very narrow! The welcome was in Spanish, no English. But that was fine with us. Everyone who stays must have an identity card to give to the hotel. They give you a piece of paper with the map of the village, the codes, the times of the hotel services, everything is well prepared! I loved this attention to detail. The room was large and clean, there were towels and soaps. However the curtains didn't close completely for us, so we were woken by the day. The breakfast was perfect. If you are gluten intolerant you can even ask for a gluten free bread and biscuits. There were charcuterie, milk, coffee, fruits, cakes, eggs, cereals,... all you need. There are a relaxing backyard-garden-terrace, a board games little room with free tea and coffee with biscuits and some tourist magazines with recommendations in the entrance hall.

    Besalú is an absolutely stunning medieval town — full of charm, history, and picture-perfect views around every corner. The most magical part is the evening atmosphere, once the day visitors have left. It’s the perfect place for a quiet evening stroll, a relaxed drink in the square. Truly one of the most scenic and atmospheric towns we’ve visited.

    It's a wonderful little place and I'm sure there's more to explore than we saw. Just one tip: the churches seem to be accessible by appointment only (one can only peek in through glass at the entrance), which is a pity because there are some wonderful, very old ones. If I were to go next time, I'd arrange with the tourist office to visit them. The Tourist Office were wonderful about helping us see the mikveh and I'm sure they'd be just as great about l letting us visit the churches, but we should have arranged it in advance.

    Picturesque Besalú works as a short visit, there is lots to see but it can be done pretty quickly. The medieval centre and bridge are a great explore but it's also set in great scenery and the views as far as the pyrenees add grandeur. There are routes to follow or just chill in one of the cafés dotted around the plazas.

    Besalu is a beautiful small town that can be visited in one day. The old city has several interesting monuments and medieval architecture. It is a great place if you enjoy taking pictures. The best location to stay is the Hotel Els Jardins de la Martana which is located just in front of the old bridge which takes you into the old town. An interesting village not too far that is worth a visit is Santa Pau with a stop at Istany Banyoles (Lake) on the way back. What we found very disappointing was the fact that on the two days of our stay all the restaurants (about 15 of them) were closed while the various websites still showed businesss as usual. For a town that wants to promote tourism it is shameful not tom have a single restaurant open for dinner.

    It was very beautiful and in a most superb position to explore Besalu. The nearby parking facilities were ideal. The staff were all most welcoming and attentive at breakfast. We ate breakfast on the terrace as hot air balloons passed overhead. Idyllic. The library and drawing rooms were beautiful. The bedroom was large and airy , The floor tiles were fantastic. There were plenty of places to eat and drink nearby too.

    The place is located amazingly, right in the center of Besalu and just a few steps from the main square of the town. Several options to eat out around the apartment, we really liked the pizza place just around the corner. Easy check-in. The flat itself is very nice and has two terraces, one of which is a rooftop terrace from where you have a nice view over the town.

    The communication with the host, Coral, was great. Very detailed and very efficient. The apartment had additional sheets of handful information. The apartment itself was wonderful. It's located in the lovely old town of Besalu, close to the old bridge and many restaurants and shops.
