The owner of this property is truly wonderful. He allowed us to check in late at night. He even walked us from where we were, even though we couldn't find the exact location. He even asked us if we were hungry. They had free water at the facility, and our accommodation was both very clean and beautiful, very comfortable, with a huge garden and a wonderful pool. You can go directly to the airport by metro.

A Barcelona Suburb Taking Off

El Prat de Llobregat is a name familiar to all those arriving in Barcelona by air, as it’s the site of Barcelona Airport. The thousands of passengers who take advantage of cheap flights from low cost airlines and international carriers pass through one of Europe’s busiest passenger terminals.

Many head straight for the Catalan capital via the on-site train station and end up missing the attractions of El Prat de Llobregat itself. A golf club covers the narrow strip of land between the airport and the sandy, Mediterranean beach which extends all the way to Castelldefels in one direction, and the mouth of the Llobregat River in the other. There is also a nature reserve which offers views towards Montjuic hill.

Also set by the river in the foothills of mountains is Sant Boi de Llobregat, whose skyline is dominated by the belltower of its simple church. It is connected by train and underground to central Barcelona, as is Hospitalet de Llobregat, where the historic centre buildings contrast with innovative skyscrapers. My room No. 1 was conveniently situated just behind reception, next to the kitchens. At times, it was a bit noisy. The room itself had internet and convenient power points, was spacious, clean, and with modern decor: very practical for a business traveler. The hotel itself appeared modern and with a pleasant individual character. I was able to check in at 10 AM. Breakfast is reasonably priced and there are several local bars, cafes, and supermarkets. Minor points to consider: There was no view since the only window had a wall about 40 cm away. The TV only has Spanish channels. There was no coffee maker or kettle in the room.

Although very close to Barcelona and, importantly, its airport, el Prat is a separate village with its own history, and it still feels that way; it is a small world away from the bustle of big Barça. There is stuff in the locality to explore as well as what seemed to be a couple of good restaurants. I was only passing through and could have cheerfully have used Mucho Masia as a base for a day exploring nearby.

Prat is a "normal" area with many regular Spanish residents. It is far enough away from the main attractions to recharge, though close enough to access the hot spots easily. Lots of transportation options available depending on your budget. We stayed 3 nights initially in the Barcelona Beach area and it was nice to relax a bit in Prat before we flew home. It felt safe and was clean.

The hotel is perfectly located close to the airport, ideal for short stays before flying or boarding a cruise ship. For visiting the city I would recommend another hotel in downtown Barcelona. Rooms are spacious, clean and well fitted. Food at hotel restaurants were very good, but Breakfasts were just fabulous.

The length of our trip was unplanned at 3 days.

The length of our trip was unplanned at 3 days. We originally wanted only an overnight convenient to the airport after a cruise. For this it is excellent. But our flight was cancelled and we extended 2 extra days, at no little expense. If we had had more time to plan, we probably would have looked for somethng closer to town, and cheaper.

El Prat is ideal if you’re coming or leaving Barcelona for an early flight as it’s few stops to the airport. We found a wonderful Italian eatery to have a light supper as we were flying the next morning. There is an excellent cafe bread shop patisserie on the other side of the street which was great for breakfast. Lots of bars for an evening drink

This hotel is little out of date. We needed one night near to airport, it was good enough. Metro station and airbus station is about 8-10 min walk. Some other, local bus stop is just 1 min.
