My stay included visits to the sites Huelva has to offer but also trips away from it to explore Palos de la Frontera, Rabida, and Moguer--all places with strong connections to Christopher Columbus's voyages to the Western Hemisphere. These other places filled in a lot of history unknown to me before about him and others from the area who accompanied him on his voyages. I took public transportation within Huelva using its city bus system and out to Palos de la Frontera and Rabida.

The area along the Odiel River is nice to walk and has restaurants and places to sit and enjoy the view. The city would be great by bicycle. The Mercado is the place to go for fish, meat and fresh produce. Restaurants were a bit of a hit and miss during our trip, so we recommend doing some research (and don't trust the online pictures posted by the establishments). You definitely need some form of transport if you want to see a fair amount.

I decided to visit the area simply because I read Christopher Columbus set off a few miles up the road to find the new world and most of his sailors came from the area. If it was good enough for CC…Nice churches, monuments, Markets, promenade, and cafe life within Huelva and you could easily spend a week if taking in the surrounding areas. Good bus and trains links.

I loved this city with all my heart! I walked everywhere.

I loved this city with all my heart! I walked everywhere. Such a great history, wonderful people who were so nice. The tourist desk at the Columbus house was extremely helpful and they seemed excited for my visit. It was very reasonably priced and delicious food. The Jesus Hermida museum was free and very interesting, with very nice workers there. Everything was so lovely in this town.

One day is more than enough to experience Huelva. Many coffee shops did not have any milk other than from a cow, but maybe if we (tourists) will ask about it many times then maybe after 100 years they will have it available. Many restaurants are very expensive and with very poorly educated personnel. Drinks with relative good price (outside of the touristic center) On Sunday most of the coffee shops closed until 9 or 10 AM. Google maps information about opening hours not reliable

A very pretty city ... more modern than most cities in Spain...

A very pretty city ... more modern than most cities in Spain but still with older areas of great architecture to photograph. We spent a good deal of time just walking and capturing the essence of Huelva on film. I would definitely return. The people are very warm, kind and helpful. That was lovely to see.

The Senator is an old fashioned style of traditional Spanish City hotel with spacious rooms and excellent dedicated disabled bathroom facilities. My stay was impaired by poor lift services as one was out of service and waiting periods could be extensive with the alternative stairs bei g unsuitable for my disability. The Bar menu is very limited and although the staff were generally attentive an attempt to short change me as a foreigner was rather obvious.

Ww had a beautiful modern bedroom and bathroom ( with a hairdryer) and a juliette balcony that overlooked the street and restaurants below. Excellent breakfast and location. Before arriving, I had emailed the hotel on a couple of occasions, and I received a full and prompt reply from Ana, the receptionist. Even though the hotel has limited car parking, there is a large public car park just around the corner from the hotel.

Perfectly situated for exploring Huelva. Only 3 minutes walk to the historic centre. I didn’t use the hotel car park because there’s plenty of parking on the street. Welcome at reception was friendly. My room was on the 7th floor which is the top. I had an unexpected balcony with stunning views over Huelva. Everything was spotlessly clean and it was very quiet. The WiFi was excellent. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
