Tordesillas is a famous town in the world history!

Tordesillas is a famous town in the world history! At the end of the 15th century the pope and the kings of Spain and Portugal agreed here how to allocate the newly discovered territories in South America.. The museum is interesting, but the town has little to offer except for the nice views from the river side and the well preserved churches. Restaurant choices are limited..

Historic hillside town on River Duero crossing. Fabulous little Santa Clara Convent with 15th Century Mudejar horseshoe patio & golden ceiling. "Mad" Queen Juana reclusive convent life 1509-55. Fascinating museum of Treaty of Tordesillas signed by Spain / Portugal dividing Latin America in 1494. Centre of Comunero revolt against Charles 1 monarchy in 1520. Today a sleepy town with cloistered square with good eateries and economic hotels. Surrounded by wine of Toro & villages with big castles.

Tirdesillas is a stunning place to visit with picturesque...

Tirdesillas is a stunning place to visit with picturesque scenery and medieval buildings but not in the winter. We were there because we were travelling home but temperatures in winter are well below zero and there is a good chance of snow. So visit in the spring and autumn when temperatures are not extreme hot and cold.

An interesting central plaza and interesting quirky history...

An interesting central plaza and interesting quirky history of The Mad Queen. We only ever stay for one night on route to and from Santander ferry port. A very convenient stopping place about two and a half hours drive away.

I assume this is a family run hotel it was clean comfortable...

I assume this is a family run hotel it was clean comfortable and what we needed after a long trip. Its not a 5 star establishment but then again we didn't pay 5 star price and wouldn't we like seeing spain as it is. The breakfast was absolutely excellent. There was a typical Spanish bar and it was good for a drink after a long trip and our dogs were welcome. We felt it was excellent value and clean and to us that is what we hoped for. The best recommendation I could give is would I go there again...definitely and we will.

Santa Clara convent , El convento de Santa Clara, Plaza mayor, paseo alreadedor del Duero,do not miss the old bridge,over the Duero river,Casa del tratado ,very picturesque village, people are very friendly here

Evening staff especially Carlos were excellent, we were 1/2 board but alas the lady on this morning said "no breakfast" as I understand 1/2 board is breakfast with either lunch or evening meal, we had an evening meal on our arrival yesterday and thought it was excellent, this morning just tea and coffee!! Perhaps I should have booked room only! Shame as the hotel is in a good location and last evening it was buzzing, this morning it's like waiting for god. Honest and frank review.

The room was fine, the bed comfortable and there was a nice balcony. We had a fridge which was useful. The hotel is not far from the centre of Tordesillas which has a lovely old town, a beautiful river and lots of nice restaurants and patisseries. Parking outside the hotel was easy.

The location was excellent. Easy to find. Car park was free and near the hotel. The bar & restaurant was very good and the staff were excellent. The food in the restaurant was superb. The bathroom and facilities in the room were super.
