I had wanted to book Saivaara Cottages a couple of years ago during the Covid nonsense over New Year, but someone obviously booked before I managed to arrange the flights; and whoever booked was unbelievably lucky, because the place is simply fantastic - and we got to enjoy it for 8 days this year before Christmas. Simply put, Saivaara Cottages are wonderful - the accommodation, the owners, the location - everything about the place is superb; and we will be coming again. We have stayed elsewhere in Kilpisjarvi before, but Saivaara Cottages was most definitely worth the wait. Hopefully Saivaara Cottages will have space for us net time.

Hiking trails are well signposted.

Hiking trails are well signposted. The supermarket at the center is very good. Public transport connections could be better but the twice-daily bus to/from Rovaniemi is very reliable. Tour operators organize day tours to the Acrtic Sea in Norway. They sound good but unfortunately were cancelled in summer 2021 due to the covid crap.

Excellent local organization (Kilpissafarit) offering snowmobile tours, ice fishing, Sami culture meetings, and equipment rentals. Beautiful area for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the tundra and on frozen lakes.

Kilpisjärvi is a great destination for those who love...

Kilpisjärvi is a great destination for those who love outdoor activities, nature, reindeer and peace. The trip to Saana was great, although there were quite a few others on the way. Other nature trips were also nice, such as the incredibly beautiful trip to Tsahkaljärvi along the path (behind the shop), a trip to the border of the Three Kingdoms.

Beautiful place in front of a mystical mountain and a wonderful view of the lake. Pleasant restaurant and quality breakfast. Excellent dining room in the center for reasonable money, all for the price of 19 EUR. Excellent snow conditions and possibilities for trips to the surrounding area. Absolute satisfaction. Good ski trails. Diverse excursion destinations. Stunning scenery. A big minus is that, among other things, tourists were fooling around on the ice of the lake and in the fells and taking unnecessary trips with sledges. Hopefully, tourist sledging will be restricted.

I was in Kilpisjarvi for 3 days to x- country ski but my arrival coincided with a big storm so I spent a lot of time snowbound in my cabin. This was quite a pleasant experience as it was well equiped and you could watch satellite TV from all around the world. The central complex had a nice restaurant and the nearby Haltinmaa did a great value buffet. The Arctic Express bus from Tromso to Rovaniemi stops 100 metres away. I hope to return one day and actually be able to ski !

Nice cottage with sauna. Excellent service so everything was easy to find. Terrace was large and we enjoyed the the fireplace. Kitchen was good and we could make an excellent dinner from raindeer. Defenately place I would stay again at Kilpisjärvi
