Everywhere was spotless. Great facilities. Shared toilets and showers. Excellent water pressure. Comfortable private single room. Nice and quiet at night. I slept really well here. The staff were all friendly and exceptionally helpful in booking tours and arranging transport. It is difficult to organise everything in the Falklands before you arrive, but the staff were able to help and advise me once I arrived. Good hearty beakfast included. Cooked to order. About 10 minutes walk into Stanley, next to the services which has the only ATM and close to a supermarket. Strong wifi which can be purchased.

The Waterfront Hotel has “soul”. Attention to detail is paramount, the staff are attentive, happy and very customer service oriented. Every morning we sat for our breakfast at a window seat facing the water, you couldn’t ask for more, so very relaxing. The atmosphere at night is lively with a great mix of people, and menu so very varied. The Hotel arranged our transport and tours. Alex, Manager certainly is very good at his job. Would we stay at The Waterfront again, yes we would.

Julio and Chris are extraordinary hosts! They were enormously friendly and helpful. We felt at home in their lovely home and missed nothing. Everything was very clean and done with passion and love. For breakfast we enjoyed Julio's special scrambled eggs. We hope to meet them again!

Stanley is a weathered blue-collar outpost town on a desolate island teaming with marine wildlife. It’s not a place for ‘culture’ seekers, antique shoppers, or fine dining connoisseurs. An hour’s walk outside Stanley and it’s a place of vast horizons, intense solitude, and penetrating silence. The wild and windswept coast, and ubiquitous boglands/peatlands are reminiscent of the UK, Netherlands, and other Northern Europe lands. For an American, it is otherworldly. The closest similar geography is alpine tundra. The town has a handful of quaint cafes and pubs for socializing after a day-long excursion . . . that doesn’t necessarily need transport. There is a lot of countryside (like Two Sisters mtn) and coast (like Gypsy Cove) to be visited on foot or by bicycle. The museum is small but well done, esp. on sailing history. Natural history is very cursory. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, Stanley is the only town of note for basing distant excursions. Bike packing would be an awesome alternative. I was puzzled why there was not an equestrian outing business, as that form of tramping would be quite exhilarating and able to cover a lot of camp land in a day’s outing; even overnighting w/pack horses or mules.
