The room is very spacious and clean, with an especially great view. There is a large parking lot at the entrance. All the toiletries are from L’Occitane. It is also very convenient to get to the castle from the hotel. My husband left his card holder in the room, and they kept it for us for two days. We are really grateful for that.

Domaine D’Auriac perfectly combines old school charm with family like warmth. The building is beautiful and rooms are spacious. The owner and her family are around to attend to every details. Staff are superbly knowledgeable and helpful. The swimming pool is beautiful AND big with lovely environment. It is 5 mins drive to the Cite and yet feels like an oasis. Last but not the least, the restaurant is fantastic - authentic, innovative menu all reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

Didnt have breakfast on any occassion, just not a breakfast person. I find location excellent ,we come and go thru carcassonne regularly. My daughter a nd family first experienced your hotel when they had an emergency in France, she passed it to me, I've passed it to my sister etc . We always enjoy it, we "get what it says on the tin", and it's super value.

- Good location (there are 2 supermarkets and McDonald’s very close to hotel); - Free private parking; - SUPER kind staff; - Clean and well-furnished; - SILENCE AND CALMNESS; - Swimming pool (we didn’t use it but anyway); - The most important part for us: 24/7 checkin. We arrived around 23:00 and we checked in without any problems (while other places can give you check out only till 21:00 max)

Out of a Fairytale

Most visitors to Carcassonne come here for one thing: to see its fairytale, UNESCO World Heritage-listed castle sitting majestically on a hill east of the city.

Spectacularly lit at night, this Cité is a restored medieval fortress with 52 towers, 2 outer walls covering almost 2 miles, and a drawbridge providing access to a keep. Twice daily there are medieval jousting displays between the walls. This intriguing castle has enchanted so many that it has appeared in novels, films and even spawned a board game.

Some Carcassonne hotels, bars and restaurants can be found in the Cité but the majority are in the Ville Basse below. The stone Old Bridge, also lit at night, links it to the city centre over the Aude River.

Central Carcassonne also has its own sights including the fine art museum and the cathedral with its impressive stained-glass windows. But its best feature is the South of France way of life, with relaxed bars and pavement cafes, some serving the local speciality – cassoulet. Other slow-paced attractions include boat trips along the Canal du Midi and visiting villages like Minerve in the surrounding hills.

Served by national and low cost carriers, Carcassonne Airport is a mere 3 miles out of the city centre.

    History in both the old town and Le Cite (the walled town) were what I went to Carcassonne for. It is small and compact with plenty of places to eat and lovely people. (and a great market on Saturday morning!) We didn't have a car, so weren't easily able to get away from Carcassonne, so our 5 days was probably slightly too long.

    Great place lots to do and see.

    Great place lots to do and see. Can get train to Toulouse and other city's nearby. Canal trip is nice 1.5 hours for 10 euros. Castle is great 20 minute walk from centre. Lots to see shops restaurants etc. Lots of steps and very steep hills. Would definitely go again. 1.5 hour flight from Bournemouth airport brilliant. Go and enjoy but look out for dog muck there is a lot of it everywhere even though poo bags are supplied by council. Restaurants are quite expensive but food is great. Don't miss the central square and all the roads off really nice. Oh and bolt are not the cheapest taxi company. Quoted 28 euros to get to airport but local taxi from train station only 15 euros. Also shuttle bus right outside airport arrivals door 6 Euro each and ticket lasts all day on all services.

    The hotel is beautiful and the breakfast was amazing. Did not like being woken by the garbage truck at 4:30 am and the street cleaner after that. I also think there should be a ride from the parking area to the hotel.

    Fascinating history and the views and architecture were astonishing. We took a guided tour and would recommend that strongly - so much information and fascinating stories. We tried to find a really good dinner and the first two nights were disappointing (or at best ordinary) - steak was tough one night and the duck was tough on another. But we live in France, so we weren't there for the gastronomy, so no matter. Our third night we played safe with an Italian Pizza and it was a relief to get what we ordered and expected. A good pizza.

    Though the weather wasn’t the best we found enough to see and do in the 4 days we were there. The castle was very impressive and we had a guided tour of it. The traffic wasn’t too bad and the drivers were very courteous. In fact the French in this city were friendlier than in more frequented areas like Nice or Cannes. While there we used a pub called The Celts and I would thoroughly recommend it. As far as eating goes it wasn’t wonderful with the exception of the 4 Temps which was great

    Everything . The greeting on arrival was perfect, 11/10 The room was amazing. Dinner was superb. Breakfast was divine . We will return as this hotel and restaurant are so good I plus within a very short walk of the old town of Carcassone. We feel so lucky to have stayed and dined at this gorgeous establishment. We will definitely return just fur longer next time.

    Huge room and the hotel welcomed us to keep our touring bicycles inside the room while we stayed. Thank you. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Nice outdoor area to sit and have a drink or snack. Not too far to walk up to the castle/old town area. The newer part of town is also cool, over the bridge, and has an expansive farmers' market too.
