Colmar is a stunning and vibrant town. Its colourful half-timbered houses, cobbed street and picturesque canals make it a joy to explore. It was very easy to navigate on foot, with so many lovely corners and spot to take a photo. The food is delicious, with some Alsatian restaurant serving regional specialities like tarte flambee' and choucroute. A delightful town with loads of history.
A delightful town with loads of history. Enjoy the Alsace wine and local food when you visit. Be sure to go to the Covered Market. Birthplace of Auguste Bartholdi, designer and builder of The Statue of Liberty (in New York). Cobbled streets, interesting houses and intriguing winding little lanes. Colmar is beautiful.
Colmar is beautiful. It is touristy but that doesnt detract from how nice it is. We went in September and not too crowded. Two or three days stay recommended. It's an easily walkable place with lovely architecture. Lots of choices of restaurants. Spend a day on the bus from the station or tourist info to visit the medieval wine villages. You can visit them all if you leave early enough or spend a bit longer at some. We did three and enjoyed it. There are little tourist trains in Colmar and the villages and these are a good way to get a flavour of the places. Easy to visit Strasbourg for a couple of days from Colmar. Lovely city center, unique atmosphere. Weather was just perfect, had several walks through the center looking at the unique architecture - visited church , Museum (interesyting) We were staying there 2.5 days but also visiting couple of very nice villages just 15-20' distance with car. Colmar is a truly magical place!
Colmar is a truly magical place! It is a small town, but incredibly beautiful and cosy. The atmosphere of the Middle Ages flows right through the streets here: picturesque alleys, brightly coloured houses with flower-filled balconies, canals and ancient bridges. The whole town looks like something out of a painting, and every corner is a delight. I especially liked the historic centre, where you can just walk around, enjoy the architecture and pop into small cafés and shops. I highly recommend visiting the ‘Little Venice’ area — it's one of the most romantic corners of the town. It is also worth visiting the ancient churches and museums, which perfectly complement the atmosphere. Colmar is also the centre of the Alsace wine region, and it is definitely worth trying the local wines here. Many restaurants and wineries offer tastings and traditional Alsatian dishes such as tarte flambée or kohenfläisch. The only thing to keep in mind is that it can be quite difficult to find a free table in a restaurant in the evening, especially if you haven't booked in advance. This doesn't detract from the city, but it can be unpleasant if your children are crying and want to eat right away.Guest review byMuradUkraine
