Right on the GR70 route. For a two star hotel this place is great. Good food and bar, quiet clean comfortable room, friendly staff. I cannot think of any reason not to stay here.

First and foremost, the host was absolutely amazing—one of the kindest and most helpful we’ve ever encountered. Her warm welcome and attentive service made us feel right at home from the outset. Whether it was offering local tips, ensuring we had everything we needed, or just sharing a friendly conversation, her hospitality was truly exceptional. For motorcyclists, this place is an absolute gem! The hotel offers secure private garage parking, which provided us with total peace of mind knowing our bikes were safe overnight. It’s clear that the hotel understands the needs of touring motorcyclists, making it an ideal stop for those exploring the region on two wheels. Our hotel room was superb—spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully appointed. The attention to detail was evident, from the comfortable bed to the well-thought-out amenities. After a long day on the road, it was the perfect retreat to unwind and relax. And then there’s the restaurant—simply out of this world! The food was nothing short of extraordinary, a true five-star culinary experience. Every dish was beautifully presented, bursting with flavour, and made from the finest ingredients. Whether it was a perfectly cooked main course or a delightful dessert, each bite was an absolute pleasure. The dining experience alone makes this hotel worth visiting! To top it all off, La Grange Détente, the hotel’s wellness space, was a wonderful addition to our stay. The opportunity to relax and rejuvenate in such a tranquil setting was the perfect way to end our days. If you’re touring on a motorcycle, this hotel is an absolute must.

Beautiful location - stunning views and possibly the comfiest bed I've slept in for years. Lovely shower. Continental breakfast optional at 12 Euro which was reasonable. Staff were lovely too and very friendly.

Orry and Gaïa are fantastic hosts, very welcoming and friendly. The refuge is lovely and super clean. Walking distance from Gentiâne in case you plan a hike with a donkey. The food is amazing, made with love from local products. We highly recommend the Refuge Des Castagnols!

The location is wonderful, the staff are pleasant, and the...

The location is wonderful, the staff are pleasant, and the premises are timeless. The bathrooms are cramped. The sink leaks, and the toilet takes 30 minutes to refill. The bedding is good quality. We hiked the Stevenson Trail, and this was the most expensive establishment with minimal comfort. I do not recommend it.

A hotel from the 1930s, still in its original state. Fortunately, it's ideally located. If you're looking for peace and quiet and a bit of comfort, look elsewhere. The toilet flushes, and the neighbors talk. Be aware of the tourist tax charged by Booking.com. For your information, it should be 0.5 cents per person per day.
