The chateau is near the top of our favorites in France.

The chateau is near the top of our favorites in France. The town area is pleasant, with some nice little stores and a nice church. There are a number of really good restaurants. It is always busy becuase of the chateau but doesn't feel over crowded or rushed,. For walker, the woods must be a marvel.

It was well worth a visit to the palace and the grounds.

It was well worth a visit to the palace and the grounds. Lots of amazing history, art, and the locale is peaceful and beautiful. A true gem and a super relaxing way to spend a day in France with the family! Relax at the terrace cafe after a tour or being a picnic. Lounge by the pond and watch the Koi fish and meander through the park to discover statues, the namesake water spring, or just get some exercise. Absolutely lovely!

We'd go again to Fontainebleau - it's a lovely town with a fantastic market. We went two days to the Chateau because there is so much to see. The first day we took pictures and the second day we paid more attention to the historical aspect. We could have spent more time walking around the grounds. We loved the town and the shops and the grocery stores are great as well. It's a perfect place to relax and live like a local. And eat too many pastries. We also visited the church in the middle of town and were treated to some lovely organ playing.

Such a great little city.

Such a great little city. We were on very long roadtrip and stumbled into Barbizon while looking for Fontainbleau, stayed a night in Barbizon and a few in Fontainbleau and left the car there and took the train into Paris. It made a great grouping of places for us, walking with great coffee and beer. If you're driving its very easy and free to park at Hotel Campanile. As for staying there, you will have a great little Italian restaurant - Chez Demi at the corner - make sure to make a reservation they had 2 times for seating 7 or 9. Finally, the stop for the bus to train station (hour to Paris) is very near and across from the carousel NOT in front of Chateau. HAVE FUN!

It's a busy place but lots of choice for restaurants and bars. The biggest and best suprise .... The forest it's superbly marked trails ... Diverse scenery of rocks sand and ancient trees ..... Amazing

Visitors who enjoy exploring historic buildings and gardens...

Visitors who enjoy exploring historic buildings and gardens will have a feast in Fontainebleau. There are independent shops and a good choice of bars and restaurants which cater for all budgets. Those who enjoy playing golf and having a day at the horse races will find the area is ideal. There are beautiful walking trails to explore in the wooded heathland which surrounds the city.

This is a really nice apartment. Location is great, as it is just few minutes walk from the Palace. There are loads of specialty shops around to indulge into the real French cuisine: butchers, speciality cheese shops, wine shops, vegetable shops. There is a Franprix just outside the apartment for anything needed. This apartment is stylish decorated, it is almost a small extension of the Fontainebleau Palace rooms. We enjoyed staying here, it was a good found for our stay.

For doing hikes around Fontainebleau the location is good. It is in the Main Street though so I’m not sure why they call it easy parking? The apartment is on the 4th or top floor, there is a lift. The apartment has a separate comfortable bedroom, well stocked kitchen, fridge with freezer and room for a fold out table as well as a lounge/TV space. There is a washing/drier machine as a useful bonus. All worked well for our couple of nights stay.
