    We really enjoyed Grenoble.

    We really enjoyed Grenoble. It is a nice friendly city with good transport. We visited the art gallery and the cable car. The scenery is stunning. We were only there two days but with more time would have ventured out of the city into the countryside. We would recommend the Belle Idée restaurant. After Grenoble we went to Aix. The first part of our journey was on a beautiful little train from Grenoble towards Gap. This went through the Alps and this journey was amazing. Well worth doing.

    Beautiful city with mountains all around.

    Beautiful city with mountains all around. Generally people look healthy out and about running or on their bikes and there is an obvious commitment to environmental issues. The museum is the best art gallery I have ever been to! Easy city to be out and about in with so many inviting cafes and bars and spectacular views from the telegraphique

    The town is quite run down with a lot of graffiti and many closed businesses. The gondola to the Bastille was very uncomfortable and really there was nothing at the top, except the view of the city. However, we had two great dinners - one in a traditional French restaurant and the other at a 1 star Michelin restaurant.

    I came here to help my Daughter move home after a semester...

    I came here to help my Daughter move home after a semester abroad. We stayed for a few days so she could show me some of her favorite spots, but we didn't get to everything. Could have easily spent more time exploring. The city transit system made it easy anywhere we wanted to go. The trip up the Bastille using cable cars was fun and offered amazing views

    Amazing place, felt safe travelling just me and my daughter and easy to navigate around. Great transport links to the mountains and public transport was fantastic. Will definitely return and will go for much longer next time

    We went to Grenoble for the Ice Skating Grand Prix at the AlpExpo so had a purpose for being in the town. But there doesn't seem to be much to do there in the rainy winter. Did not really get chance to explore or walk outside of town, and would probably go again but as part of a driving holiday in that part of France and stay a couple of days before say going to Annecy and across the alps into Switzerland. All the bars, restaurants, cafes and shops we went to were really lovely though, and everyone we met was very kind with our very poor French skills. We ate a mix of French and Italian - all authentic and delicious. Daughter particularly loved Come Pizza next to the Halles St Clair. I loved the pastries in a cafe, Chardon Bleu. If you are used to London prices then everything was good value. Lots of lovely little interesting and different shops in the old town area, well worth a meander. The Tram and bus system is brilliant - 2E for a single trip or 6E for a day ticket across all public transport. And they run on time even early in the morning and are very clean.

    Maison Barbillon is a very convenient, short walking distance from the train and bus stations, and an easy walking distance into Grenoble's city centre. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the facilities are great. I loved the machine in the reception/breakfast area that was available 24/7 to make coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The breakfast buffet was delicious and fueled me easily for the whole day. My room was small, but very comfortable. I'd happily stay there again anytime and certainly recommend.

    First time in 20 years that I have given a mark of 10. Great location near the city centre Secure carparking. Friendly, helpful and English speaking staff. Comfy bed, great shower, aircon (perfect for temperatures of nearly 40!) . Large buffet breakfast, perhaps the best we have had in years of coming to France. Nice touches like iced sparking and still water on tap.

    Very comfortable position with free parking on the streets around (in case the hotel parking is full), tram stop near to the hotel and one can even walk to the city centre if you'd like to. Staff was great and friendly. Breakfast was good.
