"Les Dolomites" is an apartment block on a hillside on the edge of the village of Gresse en Vercors, a ski resort in winter and a hiking venue in summer, but the flats seemed rather empty and forlorn on a cold wet evening in Spring! Our apartment was a little 'tired' (as estate agents say) and a bit chilly (having been unoccupied for a bit) but it was a good size with bedroom, bathroom, main room (with kitchenette, table and further beds). We had been informed to bring our own sheets. Parking was just a few yards away. Having moved in we went down to the hotel 'Le Chalet' and found a bar that was cheerful and welcoming, as were the staff!. The next day dawned sunny and we realised we had a great view from our balcony - over the pool, the village beyond, and green spaces and a backdrop of mountains. We also spent a while looking around Gresse, reading about its history and walks in the area, rounding off our stay with coffee in the sunny garden of 'Le Serpaton'.

This is a two star property however, I enjoyed it as much as a 5 stars. The location is very close for he breathtaking Vercors National Park with dramatic mountains, superb views and extensive treks and activities. Although the hotel does not have the luxuries of a 5 stars, it was spotless clean and the bedding comfortable. A superb restaurant with classic homemade food and a typical French breakfast with croissant, pain au chocolat, beurre tartine, and cheese, cold cuts, muesli. The team was extremely friendly, courteous and helpful. The property has a beautiful garden overlooking the mountains with a swimming pool. I enjoyed the peace and simplicity. I was there last year and I will return next year to explore more of the region.

At the foot of mountains resembling the Italian Dolomites or the Rocky Mountains of Western Canada, this is a fantastic spot for winter hiking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing. The scenery is sublime, and the location is romantic. The village itself is charming and adds to the area's appeal. The resort, located 1.5 km further on, is considerably less attractive. Staying at the Hotel "Le Chalet" is ideal.

The service was very friendly, helpful, and helpful. We booked the apartment "il Postelre." The entire building is newly built or renovated. We had parking for our motorcycles in the garage. Unfortunately, it was too cold to use the pool. I would definitely come back again soon.

The apartment is part of a large complex, quiet and pleasant after the season, small, but everything works, including communication with the owner. In the peak season it can be unpleasantly lively. In the middle of a mountain village and beautiful landscape. Functional shops and restaurants within reasonable reach, best by car.

Mountain village at the foot of the Grand Veymond, the highest peak in the Vercors. Peaceful and tranquil setting. Bakery and small grocery store on site. Shopping is possible in the village of Monestier de Clermont, about 15 km away. Restaurants are available. I recommend Le Chalet for dinner and Le Serpaton for afternoon ice cream.

The scenery and mountains are breathtaking. The Grand Veymont farm is a beautiful place to stay, and their cheeses are excellent. The downsides: it was very difficult to find a restaurant in Gresse; they were all full. There were no ATMs or places to withdraw money.

The hotel is in a very quiet location, reached after a scenic drive through the hills. Staff were extremely friendly and the food was excellent – all served in a beautiful historic building. Just note: dinner needs to be reserved in advance! The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, with many fellow motorcycle travelers and safe parking available. The room was very spacious, had a comfortable mattress and even a private balcony.

Fabulous accommodation, restaurant & bar - the staff were delightful, and the half board hotel food so beautifully ‘French’. There’s not much there other than the hotel, but you don’t go to the mountains to be near to a supermarket! Fabulous value for money. Mountains are quite stunning.

High in the mountains. Wonderful views. Room was cool despite outside temperature of 34 at the main road and 31 at the hotel. The Wednesday evening set menu was very good. Lovely cheeses. Must be good hiking country in summer. We only overnighted.
