Friendly and picturesque neighbourhood, with great little local shops and well-stocked small supermarket on the way to the enormous beach. Beach has lots of options for wind-sports hire, and other water activities. The beach cafes looked nice. Easy going, obviously some money around, a casino further down the prom. Almost exclusively French visitors and residents when we were there in mid-July. Appartment right next to train station, for easy SNCF to adjoining towns and Nantes. Nantes is fantastic and a highly recommended day trip. See the elephant! I was there with older kids, would be great with young ones too, or couple or solo.

La Baule is a lovely town to walk around and explore. The people are very friendly. The huge beach and the cafes are fantastic. There are some really good shops to browse and a market a few days a week. We often ate at club L'ocean which is a restaurant on the beach, The menu, the service ,views and atmosphere were great! We mostly walked around but there is a little bus from the train station that works well.

Beautiful 7 mile long sandy beach, gently shelving into the sea. Clean streets and flower lined promenades. Numerous free toilet facilities along the beach . High class hotels and businesses. Pretty port area . Easy to walk around … or take the “petit train” 😁

A aimé · Benoit has renovated the house with skill and great taste (while retaining the character) it's absolutely beautiful. He is a great host, nothing is too much trouble and he even gave me flowers for my birthday. Breakfast was good and copious and there is an area to make hot drinks or help yourself to cold drinks from the fridge. It's ideally situated in a very calm street but only 5 minutes walk from the port at Pouliguen where there are plenty of bars and restaurants. The garden is delightful, very mediterranean with a great swimming pool. Plenty of shaded areas, sunbeds, seating, etc. Thanks Benoit, we'll be back!! N'a pas aimé · nothing

La Baule was a great place to visit!

La Baule was a great place to visit! We went at a great time where it was sunny and the water temperature was right enough to swim! There are two Parks in La Baule to visit - Parc des Dryades and the Tropicarium Bonsai. We went to two ice cream shops that were fun. One was Amorino; they can make flower shaped ice creams and have interesting flavours. The other one was La Fraiserie; they had big ice creams so none of the ice cream was melting in to our hands and had really good hazelnut ice cream. I would recommend that! You can rent bicycles at your local bicycle stores like La Baule Locations Velo. Scooters are available as well. Walking around is pretty easy if you would like to walk around the beach/pier. I would avoid going to the beach at night. There are a lot of children that like troubles. It's not dangerous however you do not want to have your night ruined by drunk teenagers, peeing on the beach. Things I would recommend is to do the water-sports activity with Glass Evolution or Jet Atlantic Evasion. I would also recommend equestrian activities on the beach or around the forest with Manege des Platenes. I definitely recommend getting a rain coat just in case it rains all of a sudden in La Baule. Great place to see the Atlantic Ocean!

La Baule has everything you need for a good break away, restaurants, café's, a long beautiful beach, shops, markets; It is very dog friendly, we eat out in lots of places and always took our Golden Retriever dog without any problems. We find it fascinating to walk round the back streets just looking at all the wonderful properties, there are some amazing houses and gardens. We were there for a week and left the car in the garage of the apartment from the first day we got there until we went home, it was easy to walk to everything we wanted to go to.

A charming hotel in a quiet location near the marketplace, restaurants, shops, and beach. The staff also speaks some English. The breakfast buffet was a positive surprise and the gluten-free bread was available upon order. The restaurant is worth trying.

Great value for the location very close to the beach in the middle of a posh neighbourhood with high end hotels. Nice view with the sea in the background from the 3rd floor room we were given. Tasty scrambled eggs at the breakfast.
