We had been there before but only for a single night. We love the town, the hotel, the atmosphere. We ate breakfast in the hotel which was incredible and ate out for other meals (not available in out hotel). Bit of a nuisance to search for other places to eat - the month was September and quite a few places were closed. We were looking for a nice place to stay during our trip from the south of France to The Netherlands. The hotel is clean and efficient, though overall somewhat dated. The staff was kind and helped us out. The nearby village provides with enough shops and restaurants as we had one afternoon and evening to cover. It looked like there were many outdoor activities going on (hiking, toboganning, etc.). Mont Dore is a very picturesque town, with stone houses and friendly people. The smell of cheese and hot wine during winter is present non-stop in the centre of the town, where most of the stores and restaurants are. We had a great time skiing, but I would like to come back during warmer months to discover the forest trails, which are scattered around Mont Dore. There were four of us in our party & we all loved everything about it. We'll go again & make it a longer visit. There's plenty to do in good weather & a few indoor activities when it isn't. There are many lovely restaurants, cafes & bars most of which are really reasonably priced. an interesting array of shops too. Nearby Besse is also worth a day trip.Guest review byAlanFrance

The apartment was fantastically located just a short walk from the town center and on the way to the ski station. The views from the terrace of the hills and forest were beautiful.
