The is the ideal start and end to a trip to France. No early morning crossings, just a convenient and less busy lunchtime or afternoon crossing, followed by a short drive to Le Wast, a warm welcome and a relaxing evening and superb dinner before setting off the next morning. Beautiful and lovely pet friendly 'home' away from home even tho it was a hotel. We will most definitely stay again as it is only 20+/-minutes to the Chunnel crossing. If you are looking for a hotel convenient to the Calais...
If you are looking for a hotel convenient to the Calais terminals, this is a no brainer: why would you even look at Campanile, Formula 1, Brit Hotel when you could stay in a reasonably priced hotel located in a quiet village? The plus was the quality of the dinner. Better than a Hippopotamus and actually cheaper! My car was in complete security, which is not the case closer to Calais. This is a quiet village location, the drive to Eurotunnel check in took just 35 minutes. We were able to have a drink on the terrace before dinner which was lovely. Sadly it was too cold to eat outside like the last time when we were there. The staff are very attentive and make you feel welcome. We have stayed at Chateau des Tourelles before and would return. It has been run by the same family for decades. The restaurant is excellent, with a good choice of delicious, beautifully presented dishes and the “cheese cart” is wonderful! The staff are welcoming and friendly, the rooms are spotlessly clean and the newly decorated lounge area is the perfect place for a pre dinner drink.
