We were delighted with our choice of chambre SIXTIES. We stayed there for 6 nights in May 2023. This beautiful country house is set in its own grounds, away from the ‘madding crowd’. The owners Christine & Laurent are a very charming couple. They live in the property themselves, and rent out one room, on the first floor, reached by ascending the marble staircase to be seen in the photos. The room itself is an excellent size, and has 3 windows overlooking the garden. The bed was very comfortable, with a flat screen TV opposite ( my husband loved that ! ). Super en suite bathroom with a large shower and special non slip floor to it. a comfortable seating area that we used some evenings to have a glass of wine, a French baguette with camembert or pate. If the weather had been a little warmer we would have been able to take our snack supper outside as the owners supply tables/ chairs etc. on the terrace. How lovely, after a long day with all the sightseeing that Normandy has to offer, to be able to return ‘home’ to the peace and tranquillity of SIXTIES, where you will probably be greeted by the owners 2 very sweet dogs, and can see a couple of horses and a donkey in the adjacent field. Breakfast was included, just the two of us in the spacious dining room; we felt like the duke and the duchess ! fresh pastries, fresh bread, excellent coffee & we were offered yoghurts & juice. This is not an ‘American’ or English breakfast’ but very good indeed ‘continental’. Apparently there had been a chateau on the site, but it was bombed during the war.. thereafter this building was created & renovated with impeccable taste and kept spotlessly clean throughout. Just a couple of things to mention; there are not many toiletries in the bathroom, so you might want to take your own hair conditioner etc. There are no restaurants within walking distance but this is easy to overcome, as mentioned above. We would love to return there one day !

The Chateau Saint Gilles is a wonderful place to stay. The hotel itself is beautiful, as well as the surroundings. It’s peaceful and quiet but also a 5min drive into town. The staff is lovely and always available to help. The restaurant was delicious as well!

It is a very nice chateau located in a rural area in Normandy. We celebrated my daughter’s birthday there. The building is with the history, the restaurant is fantastic with the selection from 3-7 courses menu. Staff is so friendly, special thank you to Nazar who helped me to organise the present for my daughter. Also, they gave her a bouquet of roses from their garden, it was such a special gift. We are glad that we chose this place to stay in for such special occasion!

Everything about our stay was exceptional! From the warm welcome to the heartfelt farewell, every moment felt special. The amazing homemade breakfast, alongside the immaculate cleanliness and spaciousness, truly enhanced our experience. Though the old farmhouse might appear humble from the outside, inside boasts a stunningly open and fully renovated space, thoughtfully designed for comfort. We enjoyed our visit very much, our host,Beatrice, was so accommodating and thoughtful, she Made sure we had ice packs to keep our beer cool after days out and did everything possible to make our stay worthwhile. Parking is great. Nice breakfast every morning with jams and jellies home made from the garden produce. These can also be purchased. Felt comfortable enough to sit and chill in the garden in the evening. Very close to Bayeux, a place we loved with lots of places to eat. Amusing goats made us chuckle and Tosca the dog loves attention . Would definitely visit again. The electric blinds in the room made it totally dark, great for sleeping.

Lingèvres is a quiet place.

Lingèvres is a quiet place. Every Sunday there's a small market in the center of town selling local fruits, vegetables, cheese, and meat. We received very friendly and attentive service in the two small restaurants. The nearby World War II military cemetery in Tilly-sur-Seulles made a strong impression on us.
