The location - easy to find and reach from the A83 autoroute (10 minutes) in a peaceful historic village with a 1,000 years old abbey across the road. The nearby park and woodland were ideal places for walking our dog after a long car journey. The people/owners and welcome - very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our dog was made extremely welcome. The bedroom and bathroom - exceptionally clean and comfortable. Beautifully decorated and equipped in a modern style. The food - delicious dinner from a varied, fairly -priced menu. Personally served breakfast. The parking - free in the public car park adjacent to the hotel. Perfect for an overnight stopover when travelling south or north on the A83, or for a longer stay if wanting to explore the area. We would definitely stay again, and unequivocally recommend.

The staff were so helpful and kind. Even though I arrived really late I could still eat in the restaurant which served excellent food. The room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable and the price was great.

Beautifully restored and extended old farmhouse - a great mix of contemporary interior design, eclectically furnished and decorated with objects collected world wide by its well travelled owner. Ludwig was a first class host and a marvellous conversationalist (spoke impeccable English) with an excellent knowledge of the area and some very helpful recommendations for things to see and do. Substantial traditional French breakfast. Most comfortable bed we've slept in for years. Excellent quiet village location for both a stopover or a longer stay to explore the surrounding area.

A beautiful little house, full of character, and with wonderful facilities. In the heart of the countryside, La Maison Neuve offers an oasis of peace. Its pet-friendliness was a big bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed the unexpected breakfast. The eggs….delicious! 😉

We absolutely loved this property and the owners were so incredibly welcoming. My mother and I were cycling around France and so lucky to have found this place. The shops were shut the following morning due to a bank holiday and the owners mum was so generous, gave us a baguette, butter, her homemade jam and pate, which were delicious. As a family they built the accommodation and it’s very clean and comfortable. We felt instantly at home and very relaxed after a long days cycling. What a great experience…thank you

A charming little town with few places to eat, but the village is quiet and quite close to the Marais Poitevin. The town's tourist sites (mainly the abbey) are interesting to see and can be visited very easily, even without a guide.

Nieul-sur-l'Autise is a sleeping beauty.

Nieul-sur-l'Autise is a sleeping beauty. A typical village of southern Vendée, rich in history and stories, the heart of the village exudes peace and serenity. A haven of calm, a welcome respite between days spent exploring the major sites nearby.

A truly beautiful place to visit.

A truly beautiful place to visit. We appreciated the tranquility, the banks of the Autise river, the vast green spaces, the village's charming streets with their lively atmosphere (like the mill) and small shops, and the excellent crêperie (featuring local produce). We were also impressed by the beautiful Royal Abbey of St. Vincent. A must-see!
