The hosts are incredibly warm and welcoming. Staying at Casa Alta was so comfortable it revitalised us on our way to continue the GR20. The stay, delicious dinner and hearty breakfast fortified us at the half way point. Casa Alta would be a great place to stay longer to relax.

Vizzavona is the perfect spot as a base for day hikers, and the ideal stop for through hikers taking a luxury (compared to camping) break. But if you’re not there for Corsica’s great outdoors, then it’s not for you. It’s all about the hiking.

If you enjoy hiking, Vizzavona is the place for you.

If you enjoy hiking, Vizzavona is the place for you. There aren't many other attractions. Unlike other parts of Corsica, here you'll find a beautiful forest with enormous pine and beech trees. We were very impressed. The apparently newly created archaeological trail is highly recommended.

An ideal base for mountain hikers.

An ideal base for mountain hikers. Suitable for families, with the opportunity to swim in magnificent streams, and suitable for experienced hikers due to the challenging routes. A train departs from Vizzavona and travels to Ajaccio, crossing enchanting mountains and valleys. There are rustic and charming eateries (e.g., Bar La Gare) where you can eat and enjoy a beer.

Big room with stunning view of the mountains. Delicious food. This station hotel is modern and comfortable but equally it felt like stepping back in time with polished wooden floors and lots of original features. It was lovely to watch the trains go through. It is on the backpacker route which gave it an informal comfy atmosphere. Great location for walking. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. Our two night stay up in the mountains felt like a special experience.

Great breakfast with a wide selection of food including homemade jams and local cheese. The room was clean and cozy with pastoral ambience. The location is a bit outside of the center of Vizzavona, but bars and restaurants easily reachable by foot. Great place to stay for a hiking trip.
