The Castle is in the centre of Bakewell so very convenient for exploring locally. Chatsworth House is only a few miles away and a great day out. Had a wonderful lunch at The Castle Inn. Dog friendly too which was a bonus. Great value meal. A good variety of shops in Bakewell including a fabulous store for dogs - Barks & Co who give great service. Had a take out from Raja’s at our holiday let in Upper Haddon. Very tasty! Bakewell is a very pretty place with lots of traditional shops and cafes, buildings made of traditional stone - very picturesque and nice riverside walks. We were given a corner room on top floor with windows facing in two directions offering good views of Bakewell. Nice little touches like the radio playing classical music on entering the room and little chocolate bars and local books. The outside bar area was very good and an excellent sun trap.
