The hotel interior looks amazing. It seems that bar and restaurant area has been redesigned recently, so everything looks quite clean and tidy. Breakfast was okay, some products were missing at buffet (e.g. there were no yogurt during our second breakfast) but it’s minor. Room was excellent, beautiful decoration and lots of tiny details.

The Castle is in the centre of Bakewell so very convenient for exploring locally. Chatsworth House is only a few miles away and a great day out. As evening meals are served in the pub, guests can choose to eat in the welcoming atmosphere, but eating fish and chips on a seat by the river is just as romantic!

Had a wonderful lunch at The Castle Inn. Dog friendly too which was a bonus. Great value meal. A good variety of shops in Bakewell including a fabulous store for dogs - Barks & Co who give great service. Had a take out from Raja’s at our holiday let in Upper Haddon. Very tasty! Downside - their Co-op unlike most in the country on a Sunday actually operate Sunday opening hours.

Bakewell is a lovely town, but you would be hard pushed to spend more than an afternoon/evening here. You could have it as a base and travel to other parts of the peak, but there is not much to do in Bakewell itself.

Bakewell is a very pretty place with lots of traditional shops and cafes, buildings made of traditional stone - very picturesque and nice riverside walks. We were there two nights, Sunday, Monday and on the Monday was a farmers market which was nice to walk around.

Location was excellent, right in the centre of Town. We were given a corner room on top floor with windows facing in two directions offering good views of Bakewell. Nice little touches like the radio playing classical music on entering the room and little chocolate bars and local books. The outside bar area was very good and an excellent sun trap. We managed to park out car in the Hotel car park which was just across the road, but is relatively small and on a first come basis. Very friendly staff. Very clean

Great place to stay lovely comfy bed, the tea tray is a real treat so spoilt. Friendly staff happy to help with anything. Great cooked breakfast. Just a short walk to Bakewell centre just cross the road and down the road opposite, you can walk along the river with pretty bridges all sorts of birds and huge trout.
