Barmouth is a great place ,a hidden gem lots to see & do for all ages. Plenty of excellent eating places and wonderful scenery. The beach is long and with lovely sand with dunes & surrounded by the welsh hills . The beach promenade is flat to walk along & fairly clean with benches to sit and rest when needed. Barmouth felt too busy on arrival.
Barmouth felt too busy on arrival. The train was overheated and very crowded for the journey back to Shrewsbury. That destroyed a perhaps-naive hope that it would be an idyllic chance to view Wales. Lovely spot in North Wales, lovely beach and some nice restaurants. Locals were friendly . We did a boat trip around Cardigan Bay and it was well worth the £20 per head cost, although we were very lucky with the weather. Some nice shops. The Hotel has wood panelled walls, stain glass windows and plenty of character. The view from the dining room and external patio (veranda) is very pleasant and on a sunny day would be very enjoyable.
