The design of Guy's Thatched Hamlet is terrific. The buildings are attractive & have great character. The rooms are spacious & the location right beside the canal adds to the appeal. We ate in the pub, which was packed & clearly very popular with locals & residents alike. The food was excellent.

Lovely rooms - narrow spiral staircases which were a little difficult to navigate at night and we could not get any bags up them. Staff were great, food phenomenal, very clean. Pillows could do with some love.

Excellent location close to the university, walkable to the train station. Staff were wonderful and, at my request upon checking in, immediately changed my room to face away from the train (I had just spent a few nights in another city and could not sleep because of the train). I have no idea whether you can hear the train from this hotel, though - maybe you can not hear it anyway.

We arrived after going the wrong way ( sat navs fault) and were pleased to see a free parking space . Luckily a nice lady was also staying and guided us through the building etc it wasn't to hard, but I'm not good at directions. We were staying in the lodge room . We opened the door and wow the apartment was very big . I did take a video but thought it best being a surprise, so I decided not to upload it. The apartment is beautiful . It has two very large bedrooms with en suites and the bed very large and comfortable. A nice little kitchenette and a sitting area with a sofa . Tvs in every room and also another separate toilet near to seating area. It's like home from home fact it would actually make a nice permanent apartment. My husband was very impressed and even more when he realised the price i paid ( when you pay cheap you don't expect anything it's just a place to place your head but this is exceptional and worth every penny ) . They have thought of everything, including a little treat jar full of sweets 😋 Thank you for the best night's sleep, and this is only our first night . ( staying two ) just what we need before facing a day of stress . A fairly quite area and you forget your not far from city centre.

When we arrived our room smelt musty and dirty then we...

When we arrived our room smelt musty and dirty then we couldn’t get the electric to work apparently our room is renowned for this and there is a knack for wiggling the fitting. Then we had no hot water. The basin unit was damp and rotting from the bottom. For the money we paid a very sub standard room

Great place good food choice of either pub menu or there's an Italian restaurant and loads of outdoor seating right next to the canal, great for a stroll down canal looking at the wildlife and boats. Highly recommended.

Comfortable stay in a characterful hotel in a beautiful location. Very friendly staff, with large rooms and super comfy beds. Nice and warm room and good hot water in the shower. Lighting was dim in the main room but bright in the bathroom. Only one plug socket, away from bed. Bathroom could do with a bit of tlc but clean and tidy.

Nothing. This so called "hotel" was filthy. Our room (Number 12) was grubby and covered in dust and cobwebs. The slats on the venetian blind were taped together with sellotape. The lavatory wouldn't flush, the vent on the wall above the lavatory was covered in dust, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. To make things worse, the shower plug was blocked and the water was unable to drain away.

The bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of hot water for a bath. It was a peaceful location. The hotel itself looked quirky with all the thatched rooves, though I didn't get to see it properly as I arrived in the dark, and left before it got properly light the next day.

We were attending the Radio 2 festival . We got plenty of information regarding parking for the event and the hotel had 24/7 staff available which was helpful . We ate at the Itallian the lobster was fantastic ! Rooms quiet and super king bed very comfortable
