Beamish is a fantastic place to visit for the whole family.

Beamish is a fantastic place to visit for the whole family. Staff are all in Period Costume of the day and give you the history of that period. It's so big, we recommend riding on one of many Period Trams and Buses to your chosen area, as it can be a long walk. We highly recommend doing Beamish over several daysif you can, as it's too much of a rush to do it all in one day.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Beamish - we had great weather which helped as there was a lot of walking. The staff at the entry and all around the museum were dressed in period costume and we saw lots of visitors also dressed in costume. We caught a couple of the buses / trams to different areas but preferred to walk the rest. A good idea to take a picnic as there were only fish & chip shops to buy hot food. There are a few animals there but no markings to say what breed they were. We didn’t know that there was a Beamish challenge to find clues and answers - perhaps the staff on entry could have asked us if we want to take part.

The hotel is very friendly with really nice food served , however the rooms are dark & dated and tired looking , would of liked fresh towels on day 2 but only the bin in our room was emptied , also no toilet brush or iron in room , and towel hook on back of bathroom door hanging off, it is a shame because front of house and restaurant are very nice , perhaps a little attention to detail in back of house needs reviewing

Beamish Museum is amazingly brilliant - suitable for all - educational, informative, interesting and for those of us of a certain age hilarious - recognising our parents, grandparents lives recreated perfectly in this way is pure joy. No worries if you are unable to walk too far - wonderful old trams, buses and vehicles are there to transport you - hop on and off to suit. Wheelchair users are catered for too.

Beamish Outdoor Museum is an unbelievable experience.

Beamish Outdoor Museum is an unbelievable experience. A true step back in time and you can see how well loved it is by the local community. It is right up there with one of the best things I've experienced with my family and I can't wait to go back again.
